Just a silly question:
why is there a 128GB ROM?
why does it need so much?

The 128GB is local storage (e.g., for your own music / downloads from streaming services for offline listening).
Aash!
why is it called ROM?
that's what threw me off.
at $2000 , isn't 128GB an insult?

Meh. Not really. I NEVER even touch the internal storage. Micro SD Cards are just nicer. Can throw a 1tb in there or a 2tb when they come out. I think the internal storage is usually very slow too. Least it is on my M11 Plus. Micro SD Card is faster.

ROM is useless for the purposes being discussed, I think that’s partly what @Kentajalli is talking about. I suspect it’s a simple error and they mean RAM.

thanx, you are correct regarding what I was saying.
ROM or Read Only Memory is not what this 128GB is.
it is simply a storage - and for $2000 asking price is mediocre at best.
1TB should be minimum.
Anyone serious enough to pay 2 grand for a player, is very unlikely to be playing MP3 s on it. Hi-Res and DSD files are large.
But you are wrong about RAM, the device is correctly declaring that it has 6GB.
The term ROM is wrong for this purpose.

What I mean is that it is likely to have RAM dedicated to execution of operating (apps/OS etc) and separate RAM acting as internal storage. This is how most manufacturers advertise their products, similar to smartphones.
I haven't seen the word ROM used outside of retro emulation for years :joy:

I mean, there's DAPs that are 5000+ dollars and only have 128gb storage. Like I said, most people would rather just use Micro SD Cards, as they're faster than the crappy cheap storage they put in the DAP, and easily swappable.
