HiBy W5 --> Now the W3 Bluetooth Receiver is Here with Better Buttons

Jan 7, 2021 at 10:25 PM Post #258 of 269
@HiByMusic can you guys please push an update for the Hiby W3 that disables the low battery warning (it constantly repeating it every several seconds) ?

It's totally annoying and makes the W3 unusable at lower battery levels.

Also the OTA update after the download fails for me during initialization stage.

Besides that battery could be better with higher quality codecs (not really complaining though) and switching between codecs in the HibyBlue app could be made easier.

Thank you !

If anyone from Hiby is reading, i do second this. You still have around hour or more of playtime left when the warnings start, and its not very fun hour :).

I bought a hiby W3 to play with and made a short cable for my Denon D5200 purchase on Black Friday. I wanted to try UAT with my Galaxy S20, and it's a compromise when it works.

I see many others complain about stuttering or static. I had the same problems, UNTIL I locked my phone and turned off the screen. After that, UAT streamed smoothly at its highest setting from a reasonable distance. Unfortunately the W3 couldn't remotely control volume or change tracks at that point. That can only be done through the app, and the stuttering starts again.

Anyone with a DAP like the Hiby R3Pro, can you remotely control volume and tracks from the W3?

I have no problem skipping tracks with W3 using Hiby Music player on Android. Although i do remember at one point not being able to do that, not sure what was the cause , but just tested and it works. Probably worth noting is that im not using same phone as a player as you, and might have something to do with the rom(im usually on custom ones, android 10 atm).

No problems with range or crackling, about 3m away, goes through body no problem. In a room though, so signal reflections come in play, havent used it much outside.
Only annoyance with UAT is not being able to control the volume with the receiver. You either need to be in the app, or a sort of workaround is having hiby music as lockscreen(can be enabled in settings), just wake the phone and volume buttons on the phone are able to control the volume.

It is the auto correction in my keyboard settings. It doesn't recognize Deezer and change it to Deeper every time I type it:)

so where and when would it say that the sample rate is not supported? In the Deezer app? In HiBy Blue? Only when EQ is applied? Or? EQ where?

This is on Deezer HQ on my HTC 10. I don't have any mp3/flac in my phone to try it with the player.

Ok so the problem here is that you're playing to the W3 using LDAC (as one might well want to do) but this defaults at 96kHz which is beyond the sampling rates supported by the onboard EQ of the W3. If you want to use it you need to lower the sample rate to 48kHz or 44.1kHz. (Which is no great loss if you ask me, since Bluetooth LDAC does not have enough bandwidth to even transmit regular CD audio bit-perfectly. Lowering the sample rate to 44.1kHz may let you concentrate more of the bits on transmitting audible frequencies) If there are no options to do this in HiBy Blue, the Bluetooth sample rate options may be in Developer Options in Android settings.

Thanks. By the way I can still use this one feeding to arrow 3g amp (bass 2) (Yamaha pro500- Sony mdr-7) with great results without needing the EQ, which was very harsh sounding through the Helm bolt.

Bro, I have the same issue. How have you solved it?
You will find the answer to your question in my review on AMAZON of the HiBy W3. Here, it is:

5.0 out of 5 stars

WARNING! Plug in your earphones before pairing it to your source.

I had pairing issues with my HiBy W3 just like others did. The problem with my unit was that the time windows (after holding the power button for several seconds) are short between just powering on, getting into pairing mode, and turning the unit off. Since it is logical to see a light telling you in which of those 3 modes the unit is at a given moment, I didn't put my earphones on while trying to get into pairing mode. And I tried many times to no avail. Once I turned my HiBy W3 with earphones on, I found out that the unit is programmed with a voice that tells you which mode the unit is in, and that made the difference that I needed to keep the power button pressed for long enough to get into pairing mode, but not for too long to end up powering the unit off. Once I got it into pairing mode, pairing was quick and easy and there haven't been any connection issues after my HiBy W3 got succesfully paired with several sources. Connection has worked exactly as it should, with the HiBy W3 being able to connect with 2 sources at the same time.

The HiBy W3 instructions say that a status voice notification is programmed into the HiBy W3. What is not said in the instructions is that the time window between power on, pairing, and power off stages is quite short and it could easily become very hard not to skip the pairing mode if you are not listening to the status voice notification.

The sound quality of the HiBy W3 is very good. The sound is more transparent than the FiiO BTR3. The FiiO BTR3 has more bass at the expense of being less transparent than the HiBy W3. Still FiiO BTR3's transparency is good and it is good to have both the HiBy W3 and the FiiO BTR3 for a change in sound profile when choosing between them as wireless receivers.
