It's TOTL price tag. It really has some interesting tech inside and probably the most advanced software on any DAP. My only concern is the weight since it is heavier than SP3000 or WM1ZM2.

No idea. I only had a R3 Pro years ago but never had problems with it. Anyway, I'm aware if I there's any hardware/software problems will need to send it to China.

I only heard it briefly, the same RS8 demo presented at CanJam SoCal a week ago, borrowed it from Musicteck. It was pre-production unit running beta sw, but still, sounded VERY good, natural tonality, spacious sound, very dynamic and powerful output. Waiting for a final production unit for review. Btw, width/length are identical to R8, RS8 is just a little bit thicker. And, RS8 is heavier, about 590g. Plus, it has titanium chassis.

Haven't seen any DAP doing this through firmware besides Shanling M30?
Or using 3rd party apps like Neutron or just DAC mode and Bitperfect source like IPad / Zen Stream fed by Roon / Audirvana which is working with any DAP

LPGT does it via hardware DSP, either DSD or PCM is selectable.

FiiO have had All to DSD in firmware since 2019 first seen in the original M11.
