Fantastic writeup. RS6 is definitely the ultimate vocal DAP to my ears, though I haven't heard any of the Sony Signature Series Walkmans yet.

They are quite similar in terms of colour to RS6, but they are lacking in clarity and detail.

Interesting, which of the Sonys did you compare to the RS6? If the RS6 has more clarity than the Walkmans then there's no reason to look elsewhere.

WM1A/Z - they are quite close in terms od detail. 6 years it is a long time in audio world.

I think it only exists in these marketing renderings of the RS6. This wallpaper never made it into the real world I'm afraid...
