HiBy R2 - HiBy's entry-level HiFi digital audio player

I think that the loud "click" that appears while resuming playback after a couple of minutes of standby, is somehow headphone related.
Yes. The same issue I have with my HiBy R3Pro2022. I've reported that bug to HiBy's support on mid May.
Connect the earphones to 2.5mm balanced output.
Start playing any MQA (it does not matter if play local *.mqa.flac or streaming from Tidal client) track, then set on pause. Then wait at least 30 seconds and resume playing. Right after resume playing a very loud pop noise is appeared like someone quickly connects DC to speaker.

So I tried to investigate some logs but taking oscillograms is more informative.
I took the video of the oscillographs: left eaphone connected to oscilloscope and right earphone speaker attached to iPhone's microphone.

Are those 700mV per division? That's a 5 volt jolt.. yikes.. never experienced it myself.

The dac/amp has the ability to go sleep to save power. It can be programmed (both time and with what level in dB it will be triggered by the automute function) or it can be done by the gpio's. The R2 II DAC will go to sleep at exactly 30 seconds of silence (you can literally hear a small interference 30 seconds after you pause a song). I think they are doing it with the gpio because in DAC mode, connected through USB, even with no sound, it won't go to sleep afaik.

This is also related to the battery drain issue. Somehow, sometimes the DAC doesn't get the signal to go to sleep when you turn off the device. I confirmed this one time. By removing and inserting the 3.5mm jack while the device is turned off, i could hear voltage on the IEM's. The DAP also got warm just by sitting there for one hour turned off. When the DAC properly goes to sleep, you won't hear anything when removing/reinserting the jack.
This is a good way of knowing if the DAP is going to discharge your battery or not.. if you don't hear anything after it's turned off, it's all good. If you do, turn it back on and off again. It's a "decent workaround" for the problem. Only problem i see is the wear it puts to the 3.5mm female connector.

Just wanted to add my experiences with using the R2 II as a transport and using HibyLink via Hiby Music app on my S22:

1. The unit goes to sleep after each song.
2. Screen on the unit won't wake up when power button is pressed.
3. Album art does not change on both the unit and Hiby Music.

Reported to headquarters about 1&2, however, album art does not sync on HiByLink.

Are you using WiFi or Bluetooth sync by the way?

Also @Aramaki regarding your point 1 do you mean that playback stops after each song?

Is there a way to revert it back to 1.0? I updated it to 1.1 and now I can't receive Bluetooth audio from my phone even though it's connected.
Check this post. Hiby recommends doing a factory reset after a downgrade. Also, before downgrading, it might be interesting unpairing both devices and pairing them again to see if it fixes the problem.

Also I wanted to add that when I charge the device when off the charging status does not change (it stays on the percentage when I first plugged it in).
That's a bug of version 1.1. Version 1.0 doesn't have it.

Yeah it's probably going to be a pain to find it then. Connect the DAP to the computer and see if all the files are there so you can see if it's the DAP not wanting to recognize that song or musicbee that didn't upload it.

About last.fm, i don't think so. Unless The HiBy android app can do it and i'm unaware of it.. never tried it myself. In my opinion it makes no sense having a dedicated DAP if you're going to control the songs through your phone.
Small update, I found the .flac file that was giving me issues. It was due to a file that had too long of a filename. It seems to be good after renaming it. MusicBee handled it but both the HiBy R2 II and Dopamine player could not.
