I just got a JBL Flip 6 BT speaker and saw that it downsampled to 16 bit to it last night.
I just checked and now it says - opensl es output 32 bit 192khz - that's as hires as it can get right?
Was it downsampling and now it somehow returned to hires?
This shows 16 bit in details display

Then it automagically resolved to HiRes

I had to restart it to resolve a USB connectivity issue and now it's back to 16 bit again.

What's going on here? Help please.

EDIT - I just shut off the BT speaker, it started playing at 192khz on the m300 and returned to 16 bit when I turned the BT speaker back on. ooof.

Could it be BT can not properly support that Hi Res?

The BT does 32bit when I force it there and it's left alone.

I got it to BT the new speaker in 32 bit before bed and it stayed 32 bit through Pink Floyd:

~ Cruel But Fair
and started ~ Animals while I slept.

It is one of the BT settings that goes amiss when it's shut down and turned back on.

Some of these settings depend on what you want to do (which are not discussed in the article) and others probably just plain wrong no matter what.

In any case the final resolution of the SBC and AAC codecs supported by the JBL speakers are LESS than 16bit or 44.1kHz, so none of this makes any difference whatsoever.

I've been using my M300 on and off for several months now, with Poweramp as the player, and listening via Bluetooth.

Out and about I use Jabra Elite Active 4 earbuds. Indoors I use Ultimate Ears Wonderboom 2 speaker.

I notice split second audio drop outs frequently with both of these. Usually a few seconds into every track, then a minute or two later. Very frustrating, and it's meant I've now gone back to using my old iPod Nano instead (which means I can't carry my entire digital library around with me).

I have the Poweramp Bluetooth buffer size set to Large. I don't get the same dropouts when using Poweramp on my Samsung android phone with the same buds/speakers.

Any idea what's causing this and if there's anything I can do to fix it?

@Joe Bloggs are there any plans to improve Bluetooth stability/compatibility in a future update?

I'm hopefully I may have solved the Bluetooth dropouts on my M300. I'm using Poweramp. In its own Bluetooth settings, I already had the buffer size set to maximum (100ms) and 8 DSP buffers, but still the skips.

What seems to have solved it (so far) for all three of my devices is enabling another Poweramp Bluetooth setting, 'OpenSL ES Output for output device'. Didn't have a clue what this was, but apparently it "bypasses the Android audio mixer, potentially improving audio quality and reducing latency".

I've been trialling it indoors with my Wonderboom 2 and Sony WH-CH720Ns, and out and about with the Jabra Elite Active 4. So far so good. Keeping my fingers crossed.

This week, I'll be using my R1 out and about to test it's Bluetooth more comprehensively. Noticed a couple of audio drop outs on the Jabra Elite Active 4 this afternoon, and have bought an Avantree C81 (Gaming) USB C Bluetooth adapter to try with it as well (it does work with both the R1 and M300). More on my progress with the R1 in the relevant thread.

Good that I've (hopefully) stopped my M300 Bluetooth drop outs though! Will be able to use it out and about much more now.

What am i doing wrong when trying to connect external dacs? I tried fiio ka17 with powerbank attached, fiio k11 r2r, fiio ka13, akliam pd5, truthear shio. Zero success rate, just no sound coming from external dacs. I am using hiby music. Maybe i need to change some settings? I have everything at stock settings right now

So i figured it out... kinda. Today i received Tanchjim Luna and it worked, surprisingly. Then i had a thought.. what if this is cable fault. And yeah, all of my DACs are working with cable from Tanchjim Luna.
What surprises me is that other devices such as PC, Hidizs ap80 pro x, Samsung s23 ultra, iPad air 5th gen are ok with stock cables of other DACs, but M300 somehow doesnt.
UPD: actually i found one more cable that is working. Stock cable of Akliam PD5. I will attach the photo of cables. I dont know what it means, but ones with silver colored connectors arent working while gold colored is working.

Not sure what explanation(s) you're soliciting here. Gold vs. silver? At this stage, a mere if interesting coincidence, with your M300 and adapters. I'd require many other such gold/silver illustrations, and then whether it applies to other M300s. Maybe checks with same adapter models with both gold and silver ends would be more interesting right away?

why is this happening

One of the unique things about the M300 is that it resamples everything to 24bits/192kHz. I’m not aware of a USB cable that would not be compatible, but… ???

Color difference is just a coincidence, i think. I want to understand why m300 needs certain cables and what is the difference between them. Because there is no problems with stock dac cables on my other devices.

Much more, I'd say -plenty satisfactory for me. Actually today, I started out at 96% -as high as I usually charge it. I played it all day connected to one of my HD598s, mostly at volumes of upper 40s to mid 50s, some into the sixties, and less into the 70s. I accessed the screen occasionally only. After about 8.5 hours, the battery was at 44%. I also used it running LDAC and noise-canceling with my Soundcore Q35s last week, and they lasted fine on a 4.5 hour flight each way round trip, though I didn't monitor volumes or the battery -the headphones never went to low during my week-long trip, but that is not the subject. My digital collection consists of about 60% FLAC, 30% 320kbps, and 10% lossless WMA files. BTW, this is my second HiBy DAP, I've owned my BlueBeaut M300 since July, and use it daily, though rarely for 8.5 hours. I'd consider doing other battery-use/drain tests of a very satisfactory unit.

I don’t use the M300 for wired or on WiFi.

Qobuz offline > Bluetooth, either HI Res codec/highest bitrate > TWS, it gets about 14 hours till under 10%.

Probably about 50-50 overall hour-wise, but times-used is more like 80% wireless, because I use a BT speaker most nights.

Interesting, but I'd guess the opposite because I always use LDAC and sometimes ANC with wireless headphones and IEMs. Bluetooth, plus these other software features have to draw some power, whereas wired does not. Volume definitely makes a difference, but I don't know if or how it varies by connection. I'd guess also that it's a factor wirelessly more, if not only.

I should have noted that I always have Wi-Fi off and Bluetooth on, and turn Wi-Fi on only for occasional Amazon Music use.

Finally, my favorite M300 battery feature is how FAST it charges: no measures, but it's fast. I try to monitor it to not charge it to full, but it usually beats me.
