This is the email response from UAPP support regarding the volume bug that has been reported multiple times in this thread:

Hi there,

Yes, it has been reported before. Since we don't have influence on the
audio system implemented by HiBy, I'm afraid only HiBy can fix this.

Kind regards,

Any way to address this @Joe Bloggs?, thanks.
Can you tell me exactly what bug you're talking about? I searched the thread and can only see a complaint that the volume button cannot change volume continuously when screen is off--which is intentional as discussed.

Do you mind sharing what bug you reported exactly?
My take from this thread is there are volume “bugs” that are not bugs…

Good Afternoon,

Having an issue when using wired, no sound when using volume rocket on the device unless I fiddle with the media volume in sound settings, not sure if this is a Hiby issue or yours.

Thank you.
Thanks.

Same issue I'm having, @Joe Bloggs.

Same issue I'm having, @Joe Bloggs.

1. have you updated to latest firmware and app version?
2. if you are finding that the app would only play when the ring and notif volume is up and/or the alarm volume is up, then the issue is simply that UAPP is bound to those instead of the media volume for some reason (it hasn't happened to me so I can't comment).

I have tried the same act of playing through speakers and then earphones and cannot replicate the issue, either with those ring and alarm streams turned down or up. Can you advise the steps to replicate the issue, thanks.

managed to break the back cover of m300 dap, my fault entirely..almost crushed em further as it fell on a particularly hard surface. But battery is intact. It doesn't fall out..a phone battery would tipple out without back cover but not this. Have just ordered a case, hopefully it will stay good..

Since there are no replacement covers, you guys can think of an alternate material I can stick on the back?

Like its warm sound, don't want to buy something else for now.

Did you confirm with hello@hiby.com that there is no back cover to be had?

There hasn't been a new firmware update, but today there was an automatic update to the Hiby Music app:

Hiby Music Professional Edition 6073
1. Added increment scanning;
2. Added DSD512 to PCM support;
3. Added DSD to PCM sampling rate selection function;
4. Optimized the cover loading speed of the song list interface;
5. Optimized USB exclusive compatibility;
6. Fixed the issue where HiByLink cannot scan devices using hotspots;
7. Added permission usage instructions and added permissions to request all files before accessing the folder;
8. Adjusted the original widget layout;
9. Optimized the color adaptation issue of the navigation bar after skin change;
10. Optimized some strings;
11. Various bug fixes;

So far it's working fine with no issues.

1. Yes
2. Maxed ring and notification volume, no change, still have to fiddle with the media volume to get sound.
2. No issues with bluetooth or wireless playback (I don't use the speakers), only wired is giving me this problem.

I cannot open Tidal music app now and another app I was using. Un and Re-installed both. Although another app which previously would not work...suddenly does.

Tidal, is anyone else having an issue?

Argh.. Battery charge wasn't holding up. Looks like I damaged it. Or perhaps the absence of cover has disrupted the snug fit.

And got the attached email from HiBY.

Adding the cost of sending it from India to China and then the customs duty when they send it back, looks like am foooked.

Can't I just get a corresponding battery in India and slap it in?

Or perhaps just fook this and get R4. It's also selling in India; hopefully not the defective units!

Unnecessary expenditure cos of the accident. Yikes.

@Joe Bloggs what do you suggest? DM if you can't make it public please!

Edit: as a lovely irony, the new protective case (not cover) has arrived now. Haha. Looks good with the case! Oh dear...

I’m pretty sure there is nothing special about these batteries: just check whether it has its own protection(it should, that would be a small chip at the top of the battery, where the wires go out). Then any good quality lipo pouch battery, even smaller in size (lower capacity), should work as long as it does not rattle inside. If it is thicker (larger capacity), then you got an opportunity to play with back covers…

What about a nice wood veneer back cover? Painted artwork? :ksc75smile:

sorry, excuse me--what was your media volume before you "fiddled" with it?

The media volume is exactly the intended control for all music output!

If your complaint is that the media volume cannot be zero, then yes, the media volume cannot be zero, indeed I would recommend it be set to max at all times.

I misread originally because I can't see how anyone would not want the media volume set high given that you're playing media (music)...

It is also not the problem shown in the youtube video you linked.

Media volume set to max always, I prefer to control volume output using master volume since media volume only has fifteen steps compared to 100 via master which I can also control via the volume rocker.

So you're saying, like in the video, volumes are set correctly, and being controlled by Media as intended, but someone has to go into that menu and fiddle with the sliders somehow before sound comes out (from the same settings even).

Only in your case, it's the Media slider you actually have to fiddle with.

Is that a correct summary?
