Yea, I would be hard pressed to part with them. But maybe I can buy a set of corrected end caps to display on the shelf. Then I'll tell everyone that I modded them to F1 specs...

Folks, I was the one who locked the other thread and deleted those posts. I feel that, until such time as we hear from either Todd or John, it's not serving any useful purpose to vent our spleens about this and that.

I closed the last thread because that particular post represented to me the last straw of a thread spiraling out of control. It's safe to say I don't appreciate it being discussed here.

I expect that, in fairly short order, we'll have some official perspective on what's going on here. At that point, we can all get back on with our lives. I know that folks are eagerly awaiting this news...including me, as I've got a pair coming as well. Patience and some reasonable reflection ought to be expected going forward. I'm sure that, knowing the parties involved, this will all work out.

BTW - I know that I'm pleased to hear that the folks who have their Head F1 cans say that they sound great.

Those customers probably deserved it, if this thread is any indication.

elrod-tom. Fair enough!
All those speculations probably lead to nowhere. I am sure Grado (through TTVJ) step up and resolve the issue, but it is hard to stay clear of speculations all the time an official reply delay.

At least great to hear that those who have received a Head-F1 HF2 are well pleased with the sound they put out.

Posts like these really burn me up. You are basically saying that as long as Grado turns out a product that sounds good, any other issues related to build quality should be ignored and "ungrateful" customers should just shut their mouths and go away. This is a horrible way to run a business, and condoning it is simply unacceptable.

Fact: Grado designed and showcased a product. They quoted a certain price-point for that product. The customer saw that product, and based on either personal experience or word of mouth on the sound quality of that product, as well as the images of what that product looked like, the details of the construction, and a certain expected construction quality based on the price-point quoted for that showcased product, purchased said product with the expectation that it would be delivered in the fashion in which it was advertised.

Fact: The headphone didn't show up in the expected state as it was advertised.

Now, some people like the error. Some are bothered by it. Everyone so far has reported being happy with the sound. None of that matters. The only thing that matters are the facts above, and the impetus falls on Grado to make sure that those who purchased the headphones and aren't happy with the errors made on the manufacturer's part are satisfied with some solution.

Personally I'm glad that the phones all sound good. I wish I had mine now, F1 or FI. But it doesn't change the fact that Grado made a mistake and the impetus falls on them to fix it for those who want it fixed.

Posts like the above paint Grado as the victim, which is utterly ridiculous, and excuse the manufacturer from the burden of resolving the situation that they have an obligation to fix.

I wonder if Todd really has no idea about this yet, no blackberry with email?

All the speculation would end with a simple email

Boy would it suck to come back to this thinking everyone is perfectly happy

I can't remember, did Todd take today off as well? I think he said he was going to, and if he's like me, then holiday = no business email, regardless of issue. He probably doesn't know of it yet. Tomorrow, we'll probably get a response letting us know this issue is known and a solution is being worked on, and we might know that that solution is by the end of the week.

?? Yours did, yeah. So are you saying you agree with Beagle that Grado shouldn't have a responsibility to fix their error?

To answer the original question, it's not the error that'll shy me away from the company. It's how the company responds to it.

I won't accept being mistreated. I won't tolerate a company that feels they're doing the customer a favor by selling them a product, because it's the other way around. This'll be my first Grado, and it'll be my first headphone over $25. I took a big leap of faith when I placed an order, because I'd never even heard any of their product before.

The head-fi community represents the majority of Grado's high end sales. Who else buys headphones priced like this? Does Grado want to even risk losing so many of their top customers in a single sweep?

+1

Speculation is useless. We just have to wait to see what Grado/TTVJ will say about these issues, hopefully in the interest of resolving them. Glitches happen - who, how, or why are basically irrelevant, imo. The only important thing here is what they're going to do to address these problems, and until we hear from them we can't know for sure what that will be exactly.

Until then, the most useful thing would probably to be to get more reviews on the sound of these phones from people who already have them, but detailed reviews are the one thing that seem to be in relatively short supply!

Any chance of opening the main HF-2 thread again with the provision that until we hear from JG/TTVJ, it's only to discuss the audio performance of the phones? Or is there a review thread somewhere else I'm missing? thnx.

Bullseye was running a review thread on the phones... it's a couple of pages back in the Full Size forum, I think. Look there for a lot of CanJam impressions. I haven't seen any in depth reviews yet though (nothing Skylab-esque, if that is what you are looking for). The first batch from TTVJ have only had theirs a few days tops, and so haven't really had time to familiarize themselves with it yet. The CanJam peeps... well, long in depth reviews just might not be their thing.

Probably still a few weeks before we get major reviews of the headphones to start trickling in.
