I've used Bose QC for years and love them but they are too big and heavy to carry around all the time.  I've been trying IEM's (Ety MC3) for the last month but they hurt my ear canals. I've decided to try to find a smaller pair of over-ear headphones.

Criteria:

Folding / very portable
Lightweight
Great sound
Around $100 max
Closed cup - great isolation

Based on great posts here on Head-Fi, I've narrowed my choices to the following.  Which would you suggest?  Any options I've missed?

Sony MDR-V6 $75

Audio-Technica ATH-M50 $150

Sennheiser PX 100-II i $90

Just wanted to point out that the Sennheiser PX 100-II are not closed, they're open. There is absolutely no isolation with these. Maybe you were thinking of the Sennheiser PX 200-II?

You may want to check out the Audio-Technica SJ55's. They've gotten good reviews, said to be at least on par with AKG K 81 DJ's (also another pair you should check out).

+1 for the AKG K81 DJ, now called the K518 DJ/LE depending on model. The K518 LE has a shorter cord and comes in different colours, the K518 DJ is all black, and the K81 DJ is black and silver.

Thanks for the feedback. I've added the AKG K81DJ (a.k.a. K518DJ / K518LE) to my list - although I wonder about the low price... I tend to believe that you get what you pay for.

So here's my current list, in price order.  Can I assume that the more expensive ones are better?

AKG K81DJ (a.k.a. K518DJ / K518LE)  $49

Sony MDR-V6 $75

Sennheiser PX 200-II i $90

Audio-Technica ATH-M50 $150
