Check the search feature. There are gobs of gaming headphone suggestions out there. Many people like the AD700.

The Audio-Technica A series (for closed) and AH series (for open) seem to get a lot of praise from gamers.

I've had one A series headphone -- ATH-A900. I wouldn't recommend it for gaming because of the pleather pads. For me, if I used the headphone for extended periods of time, I felt too warm because of the pads. Get a headphone with velour pads or anything that can breathe.

The AD700 that Palpatine mentions doesn't use pleather so it's OK in my book.

and it was good.

That's pretty much as good as its going to get in your price range.

Stopped reading at 5.1

To be honest, I haven't heard any headset being as good as a headphone with a separate mic. It's a safe bet any of the headphones recommended above will be better than the linked headset...

Sennheiser PC350. I hear that a little modification can make them sound great. I have yet to do a mod on mines though. Waiting for the warranty to be up.

Probably the Astro Mixamp if you want surround sound.  A cmoy or the hp out from a receiver will be fine otherwise.

astro outa my price range at £100 any cheaper suggestions? also when u say .. if you want surround sound other wise p out from receiver will be fine does that mean without an amp the AD700 from my xbox wont allow me to define witch directions sound coming from i.e. footsteps either to my right or left?..

You'll get left and right obviously, but unless your games have some sort of headphone mode built in you won't get front and back.  The mixamp takes a 5.1 channel signal and downmixes to two channels while doing a decent job of retaining positional clues.
