Note to audiophiles: Please don't close this thread just because I mention skullcandys. I know you guys hate them, but please I need some advice / recommendations.

Hello. When it comes to headphones, I'm about as noob as it gets. I googled headphone forums and here I am. Anyways, I'm looking a good set of over-ear headphones. I don't know any of the underground or not-mainstream companies so I'm going to stick with what I know (which isn't much :D). Ok, enough with the self-deprecation; here's my story.
My pair of in-ear skullcandys got destroyed last week, so I'm searching around for a replacement. Naturally, I would go to skullcandy.com to find some new ones. However, after browsing around and asking online sales reps, I decided to buy some over-ear headphones because they are supposed to sound better. I searched some more on their site, and found a couple of pairs I might like:

http://www.skullcandy.com/shop/g-i-shoe-blue.html
OR
http://www.skullcandy.com/shop/hesh-shattered-gray.html

I usually buy skullcandys because of the aesthetic value since few companies can compete with them in that category. If you guys have bought other skullcandy models and are satisfied, let me know.
However, I realized that I might be some less mainstream brands that have better audio. My friend recommended I try Siege, so I did some research. Here are some models that seemed good:

http://www.siegeaudio.com/products/eleven/
OR
http://www.siegeaudio.com/products/division/

My friend has the Elevens but he's a DJ and he told me to not get them since I'm not a DJ. What makes DJ headphones different than personal headphones? I see him using his on his iPod everyday so why can't use them for mine? Should I get the Division ones instead?
Anyways, after checking out Siege, I looked at some Aerial 7 sets:

http://www.aerial7.com/product/TANK/
OR
http://www.aerial7.com/product/CHOPPER2/

These look nice, but I have no idea if they are good or not.

Finally, I looked at Sony's collection and selected a few that appealed to me:

OR

These are all the models of headphones from the ones I've looked at that interest me. My budget is under 110 bucks. I mostly listen to hip-hop, rap, and rock so bass is pretty important to me. Bass is important, but I don't want to buy headphones that have so much bass that I can't hear lyrics. I want headphones that don't leak sound and can go pretty loud. Aesthetics are important, but as you can tell from the Sony models, simple is nice too. I don't know much about speaker mm, but someone told me the bigger the better. If you know of any brands that I missed, lemme know. I want to buy a really good pair of over-ears that will last me a couple years.
Thanks for reading all of this. I hope to receive some recommendations. Thanks!

I don't know about any of those... but I would just a Audio Techinca ATH-ES7 and look better than the guy with a blue/yellow phone with skull/peacesign on it.

I can almost guaranteed that it will also sound much better...

google ATH-ES7 and then image to see pics.

I concur that all the headphones you have listed are probably crap compared to the ES7.

Out of all the one you listed, the Sony XB500 or XB700 are probable the best.

The recommended es7 are good buy which I might be selling, PM me if you are interested.

I will just come out and say it...

you are considering skullcandy etc... criticism of es7's bass quality and comfort issue is still LIGHT YEARS ahead of these fashion headphone.

Hell...  ppl here will still discuss the low/mid/high/comfort of a $1000 headphone failing etc etc ...

I will take my $24 FC700A and it still probably produce better bass and more comfortable than some of the headphone you are considering.

I looked at the ES7 and I was considering buying them. One question I have is concerning impedance. What does impedance have to do with anything? I read somewhere that too high of a impedance will mess up sound quality on iPods because they have a max of 32 ohms. So what should I be looking for when buying headphones b/c i'm going to be using these mostly on my ipod touch and cellphone ( HTC Evo ).

High impedance headphones are, typically, going to be quieter on an ipod than low impedance ones.  This is a very broad, general statement.  Headphones have a sensitivity as well as an impedance, and these two play into each other, affect loudness, etc. etc.

I can't see the ES7's having a problem with the iPod.  They're 32 ohms, which is the standard impedance used in the design of most portable audio.

Normally with portably headphones you won't have any problems with impedance.  If you plug it in and it's loud enough without having to crank it too high then there should be no problems there.

Your list on the other hand....

No one is going to close the thread for your preferences.  Still there are plenty of other choices you can make for about the same or slightly more expensive range.

I could start listing headphones, but you'd be better served by listening to headphones yourself and seeing what kind of sound presentation you are looking for.  And there are quite a lot of headphones so it can become rather intimidating, but this is a great place to gather information.

Personally, I think |joker|'s review is brilliant since it covers quite a few and will give you a starting point/frame of reference.  The chart towards the bottom where he lists value, sound quality, price, etc. is particularly useful.

If you really want Skullcandy get the Lowrider's. I don't know about the Hesh but I have the GI's and they sound like crap. The Lowrider's sound surprisingly decent.

Uhh, the Lowriders are freaking horrible. I bought them for my gf, and they were the one of the worst headphones I've ever heard. Just...terrible.

M50 is rather headphone like tho.   I don't think sound quality is the issue (almost anything suggested will be "better",  and feel that the ES7 has the most style to stand up to these style headphone.

The ES7's are awesome, but they are uncomfortable, even after the metal bending mod. They have a fantastic sound though. Like the smaller brother of the M50, with more aggressive treble.
