K701, i'd vote k1000 but i have never heard them, but just from design you can tell they're spacious

You're right, but eventually you'll need a good sound stage hps to hear and enjoy it.

What would be an example of a bad soundstage hps?

I've only had mine for a couple of weeks - but for soundstage, I'd agree with the many recommendations for the AKG K 1000

The three main ones I know of:

Audio Technica AD700 (pretty damn huge)
Sony MDR-F1 (haven't tried them out)
AKG K701/K702 (bigger than the AD700)

Out my headphones, I'd rank them (largest to smallest soundstage)

- AKG K601
- HiFiMan HE-5
- Audio-Technica W10vtg
- Pioneer SE-L40
- Shure SRH840 / DT770 Pro/250

My brief listen to the K701s lead me to believe they have a bigger, but a bit unnatural, soundstage.

Which is the most accurate?
