i am looking into getting a nice pair of headphones with good overall quality but MASSIVE bass, id rather have a ton of bass and a decent sound quality than great quality and not so much bass, im def new to headphones so i dont know whether i need a headphone amp or what. to give an idea i had a RSX with an open trunk 2 750 RMS watt 12" subs in a bandpass with a 900 rms watt amp and it hit like a HAMMER, im looking for bass like that, i recently purchased a cheap pair of hd202 senheisers but they simply have minimal bass, do i need an amp for these, better headphones, or both?, please help me out because i miss my subs but im simply too old now to do something like that to my car again lol i would like to stay under 200 but if i cant il spend more, help me out with some suggestions, maybe something with an amp built in, im mainly looking to use with a computer or ipod.

IMHO get the headphones that the people  recommend with great quality and good bass rather than massive bass and a lower over all SQ and then get an amp like the Fiio E7 and crank the bass boost to max to get even more bass out of them - then you can allways turn the bass boost down gradually.

Shure DJ750 has good punchy bass.

DT770/80 are real basshead cans. I use them for gaming, and in games like BC2 my head shakes whenever there's an explosion near me. It never gets old :). D2000 are also bass heavy cans. So are Ultrasone Hfi780. A lot of people will most likely suggest ATH-M50 too. I personally don't like the M50, or the SRH840. My best suggestion would be the D2000 or the DT770/80. Both are hands down basshead cans. You're gonna want an amp though, something cheap. Anything by Fiio can drive them according to some members here.

The headphones I've heard with by far the strongest bass while still remaining somewhat controlled are the Denon D1100.  Astonishing warmth and impact.

thanks for the advice, fist off, bandara i love that jam haha if you have any more recomendations for some smooth reggae like that it love to hear it, second do you think the fiio e5 would be ok or i need something better, and before i go spending a couple of stacks on headphones all of the ones u guys mentioned are gonna have MUCH more bass the the 202's correct?

Bottom line is you won't get the kind of bass you are looking for.  I had 4 beastly 8's and 2500rms in my car for awhile.  Good stuff but it gets annoying after awhile. Save your hearing.  Sony xb500's or xb700's are probably gonna be your most bass heavy cans

AKG K340, bass-heavy version.

A lot of the headphones mentioned so far do have bass, sure, but the K340 takes it to another level.

Sony MDR-XB700's paired with a bass-boosting amp. Absolutely insane amounts of head rattling bass.

How I miss them...

I like my treble sparkly, so I'd opt for the XB700 over the XB500. Get the E7 with Bass Boost 3, and die in the thunder of godly bass. XD

Yeah, the XB700s will rock your head. I just think bass is about the only thing they're good for lol. But hey, if you really want that bass, XB700 is a great choice.
