Headphones for metal music - ultimate solution

Great! I'm looking forward to your impressions.

For reference, my favorite headphones ever are the Alpha Primes and the Beyerdynamic DT1770.

If these are close to the Beyers, but more portable, I'll definitely be interested.

These don't do anything like the Primes, but they do kick serious butt. Much more of a fun headphone. My reference to compare to the Meze are the Primes, and the HFM HE-400i's, which are closer in price range.

Would you recommend the Sine as a daily driver?
I'm not planning on going out with them even though they are portable
I have a Vali 2 and a Modi 2 Uber, currently using the DT990's

Yes easily.  I like the SINE better than the LCD-2 Fazor!

The SINE have a better tonality and the sound is "livelier" and more FUN than the LCD-2F.

I seriously think that they are Audeze's best product since the LCD-2 Rev.2!

I am going to be selling a lot of gear. Heck with the AKG 7XX, one of the most disappointing headphones I have ever hear: all hype, no substance (I'm being harsh, but I really don't like them). I will probably be selling about 3 pairs of entry-level Grado's cheaply to college students. My little amps for my laptop and iphone: history. I don't need them anymore.

The Meze are the real thing. I never, ever expected to be blown out of the water by these cans. Critical listening is pointless, I've been just playing Ufomammut, Opeth. Uncle Acid, Elder, Cowboy Junkies, Black Sabbath, Frank Zappa and anything I can think of. I am totally sucked-in to the awesomeness of these headphones.

You know, I'm expecting delivery of the Sennheiser HD-800S's in a couple weeks. All I can say, is they had better be the most amazing headphones on the planet, because these Meze are just so darn addictive.

Really: I have to get rid of these, and quick. I have finals coming up. Statistics- graduate level. No joke. These headphones will ruin my GPA.

Oh, and this reaction is from my iPhone, using Deezer. I'm afraid to hook them up to my "real" gear. I might never come back!

Wow!  I will have to buy the Meze because of you

I'm very happy with the SINE but I want to compare them with the Meze.

You bought the HD800s ?  I'm curious to hear your feedback but on my side I think that I'm done with expensive headphones.  (I learned from my mistakes of buying the LCD-X and the HIFIMAN Edition X...)

SINE, Meze or TX00 for mid priced bass head yearnings?

Have compared the LCD-2 with the 3 or X? I fell in love with the pre fazor LCD-2 a few years ago. It's probably time for me to evaluate their whole line up now with my current system.

Hey guys, did anyone test R70x with metal? I've heard someone say that they are not the best headphones for something quicker like thrash, but would they be nice headphones for something like gothic metal which is slower?

I feel like the X is the spiritual successor to the pre-fazor LCD-2. The LCD-4 is great as well. The post-fazor LCD-2 and the LCD-3 are pretty lame, IMO. I've tried to like the LCD-3 on so many amps and it is just not my cup-o-tea.

I have never heard the Meze but I can tell you that the TH-X00 are more 'bassy' than the SINE.  (I would not call the SINE a 'basshead' headphones)

Yes I have heard/owned all the Audeze headphones apart from the LCD-3F and LCD-4.  I still think that the LCD-2 rev.2 or pre-fazor are the best Audeze headphones.  I'm not a big fan of the LCD-2F and the LCD-X.  The SINE are more fun/lively/clear versus the last pair of LCD-2F that I have tried last year.

Thanks guys for the feedback! I'm really happy with my Dharma and Nuprime DAC-10h combo, but at some point want something that handles sub bass better. It's one deficit is some roll off there. Even most traditional doom and stoner fare is great. But a few of the real low end rumblers-Sun0)), Windhand, Ufomammut...stuff like that I might want a second option.

I think that you should go with the Fostex TH-X00.  It's really hard to beat the TH-X00 for the price and I'm pretty sure that they would be a very good complement to your Dharma.

I just ordered the Meze.

Are you also selling your 225i ?  I'm not sure if I'm ready to get rid of my 225e.  (I will wait to see if the Meze are really the real deal.)

225i I have for life! Love those cans.

The Meze was far less impressive with progressive metal/higher end dacs and amps.

But I WILL own them, bwahahaha. Whenever I hear them, I move and groove and have a great time/

That's what I thought.  The last time I sold my 225e, I bought another pair the next day.
