Hi ive just joined the site, since it seems to have great people who have knowledge on earphones. If anyone would care to just give me a great recommendation i would appriciate it.

Ok so heres some info: Im a 14 year old athlete. My music is pretty mainstream, with Eminem Jay Z, Mac Miller and smaller less well known artists. basiclly its hip hop, but i also love some beatles and frank sintatra, weird yes i know. I cant help it, i love famous and Greatest Hits. I have alot of different genres, so rap, light rock, reggae, hip hop, pop basiclly everything.
I used to use in ear head phones for 10 bucks or less. Was never really happy with the quality, but the biggest problem of them all was their wear and tear. They always stopped working in one ear, which ruins em basiclly. i think it may have been cause my phone keept bouncing around in my pocket. now its time to get something good finally ive decided, thought about them beats but i dont wanna pay for something overpriced.

Heres what i want
Durable, u dont want them to lose sound in one ear
Repairable: if they break i want them to be repairable(spec the big headphone ones)
They must be able to be put into a normal plug in
The cable needs to be strong, cause  i think they are he reason that the earphones break.
price range can be near the 100 or alittle bit above. as long as i can get a good price to quality ill be happy. so yeah any ideas

I had these for years and years. Many may tell you they are some of the durable ones you can get for $65.00 usd. They may not be as slick as some headphones out there but they have a classic look. They have a flat response where if you do a side by side test with bass heavy Vshape EQ curves they may sound bass light but they are really playing the music as it is.

I have never found an IEM you could use for sports that would not eventually come apart into pieces. You can kick these full size headphones down the street and they will still work after.

They can get a slight smell after a year or so and many replace the pads by buying new ones from Amazon.com for $7.00 usd. The cord is super long and in a way hard to manage. I guess someone could figure something out if you wanted to wear them outside. I think they look cool. That's just me.

Try THIS Op

Short cable for portable with them and long for home

MDR-V6 are hard to drive, though I love mine.

Pads fall to pieces easily too.

Look up Monoprice in the search here. You'll come upon a goo review

Ok about these earphones, i live in malaysia, is shipping gonna be a problem?
Also one the MDR-V6, they look okay, but i am really interested in the ones that Bot Byte recommended. big question is, with their relativley low pricetag, are these even near the quality on sound as the beats?
also i havent near decided yet, so more recommendations are welcome, just keep in mind that i might not understand to much of the audio tech talk,

Superlux HD-669 closed headphone.
About as good as you can get for their price range.

The best part of this hobby is finding the headphones you love. Sometimes you have to make some marginal purchases before you luck out.

Sometimes $20.00 headphones are OK. It really is a thing where everyone has their own reference point due to the level of equipment they have been exposed to.

Here is a review of those. I have not heard them but they might be great.

Another thing you can try is finding used headphones where you live. Even though good stuff is made now, many have older headphones which are made well and last. Even if they are 100% plastic, if the design is good they will last. Put an add in the paper or look on line. A way to win here is to go to a meet where you can hear a lot of pairs. My favorite pair was purchased after an afternoon of trying lots of headphones and the ones I wanted were for sale there used, so I purchased them.

Another way to make a good choice is finding a group of people on Head-Fi who like the same music as you. Most of the time they can suggest a pair that will work for your style of music and other equipment.

To be honest, its all very confusing for a beginner especially with all the brands and technical talk. All i know is that where i live, buying headphones is not effective, and that id rather ship from online. Now what im wondering is if the 20dollar headphones are comparable sound quality wise with example beats?
because thats the level i want, minus the overprice. I really liked the 20dollar ones so maybe they can be spares. so what im looking for is a stylish(im good with the all black ones)
durable ones. but i feel that since i gotta ship them, i would want to start of with quality directly so if you have any 40-70 dollar headphones who are great deals and look good id like to get those tips. I understand that when your new to this stuff, you might prefer to start with the 20s, but i really want to start with a 40-70 dollar pair. any reccomendation.

Btw i really like the http://www.head-fi.org/user/dvdcastav earphones that he has as his display pic, any ideas on that one?

The nomber one thing that i want is that its durable and stylish, the quality probably will be impressive either way(given my history)

Malaysia eh.

Quite difficult to find good (original) headphones if you're not in KL, I think.

Are you going to be using this for running, home use or portable use?

My first ever pair of headphones was the Sennheiser HD438. It's about US$80-90 but can be had for about $120-130 in Singapore.

Very comfortable, nice bass (not too strong, not too weak), not fatiguing to listen to for long periods of time.

If you're not very picky on the SQ, the HD428/438 is quite a good option, especially for movies(very comfortable for long use).

The headphones are light but they are not collapsible, and the clamp force on your head is very little (which is what makes it so comfortable), so you can't run with it.

Build quality is decent and will last you quite some time if you take care of it. If you're looking for some headphones to dump inside your bag, then don't get these.

The ones DVDcaster has on his display pic is the Shure SRH440 or SRH840, not sure which, lol.

The SRH440s are in your budget, so you might want to look into that as well.

Definetly for portable only, but i still want it to be midly durable. and yeah i kinda want a pair that i can stash in my bag. and a detachable chord is a definete must.
so yeah
What i need:Portable/stashable/detach chord/ AND they must look good :)
what i dont care: Sound Quality and price are the big things i can let loose with.

So yeah i need good looking ones(for a good looking guy :P )
http://www.amazon.com/Shure-SRH440-Professional-Studio-Headphones/dp/B002DP1FTU

The ones i like(they have the blue thing) are studio quality, and have a detachable chord. but the chord is 3 meters long and all rolled up like a phone chord.
Do you guys think i could buy them, and then replace them with another chord(a portable walking chord)
Is that possible, cause i really like the way they look. and also when something is called Studio does it mean that they are to heavy, bulky or big to be walk around in.
cause i dont want HUGE earphones on my head, and maybe thats what the studios are all about

And yeah i live in kl.. do you know any good shops around there?

Shure sells two cords for that headphone, a straight one, like the one that comes with the SRH-440, they also sell a coiled replacement cable.
It looks like only the cables made by Shure will plug into the SHR-440 headphones.
