You're from Louisville? I lived in Louisville during high school. I saw that you're 14--so you're a high school freshman? Mind my asking what school? It's so rare to see another Louisvillian (?...Kentuckianian??) around these parts.

not quite there yet- 8th grade!

i just moved here from St. Louis (which i moved to from Nashville, which i moved to from Ithaca) due to some job issues with my father, and there's a strange concept of applying to (public) high schools here. the schools i applied for are Seneca and DuPont Manual (their Youth Performing Arts Schools actually). due to my really high test scores and stuff i'm automatically into the first one, but Manual's a magnet school and i'm actually going to audition to get in (since i'm applying to the music part)

so yeah, it's up in the air right now. yeah, i've never seen anyone here from Kentucky... not too good for meets!

Lol yeah... But I think its stupid to have an age restriction on forums (unless they are **** forums or something

). Why does it need to be?

Here's my advice, take it or leave it. DON'T GO TO SENECA!!! The YPAS program is fantastic--my brother was a vocal major there and I played violin under the orchestra conductor there a number of times. Manual and Seneca are worlds apart, with respect to every criterion. Also, the UoL School of Music is just across the street from Manual. It's not uncommon for Manual students to take classes or private lessons at the UoL--another big benefit over Seneca.

What's your instrument, bye the way?

21 here....Not nearly as young as you guys on this thread. I'm impressed.

I have been into music for a very long time, saw rage against the machine when I was 13 to give you an idea.

Haven't got into high quality audio until I was 18. It started with home audio. Spent around $3,000 on that set up.

Then went to car audio. Spend about $2,000 on that set up.

A few weeks ago after I got my new laptop I realized that I never listen or watch my home system anymore and just use headphones with my laptop. So I actually gave my 17 year old brother all my home equipment including my HD TV. In hopes that he will get more into audio/video. I think its working to say the least. I'm always hearing him blast new music I give him to check out.

Anyways. So now I'm here. I have my laptop. I need great audio again. I'm in the process of buying Meier Audio Corda Aria with Alessandro MS-2.

This forum has by far been the nicest community I have ever joined. And I'm saying this only being here a couple weeks now.

Thanks for the help!
Dave

I'm 21, got here looong ago when minidisc's we're still the thing. Been lurking for a really long time and finally decided to post when I needed a new mp3player.
Seeing this as the experts forum I read through what looked liked half the forum of search results and finally bought a X5.
Then thought of buying a new headphone which was the senn hd205 (bass to prominent but haven't got anything better) then decided I needed something more portable so got creative ep630's which died on me, then bought the senn cx300's which also died on me last week but luckily still under warranty so those are going back.
Last week I won a Grado SR-60 here on the forums so I'll be waiting for that one (Big Big thanks to GlendaleViper for that one). I hope I like the sound of the sr-60 and I can take the plunge on a better grado with a proper amp. But that's the future :P

I remembered there was a teen who had a HE60 setup. I forgot who it was.

If you're over 18, you're not young!

Haha, I wish I were young... I miss those days.

003 used to have an even more impressive setup, though! akg k1000 + first watt f1! amazin', we're talking about $3000+ of gear there! what does hungrych have?

don't worry guys, i assure you before i'm out of highschool i'll have a couple grand invested in audio gear, source/preamp/headamp/power amp/headphones/speakers/subwoofer(s)/cables/etcetera. if i go to new york for college then i'll have $5000 to waste from the car budget alone! he60 setup is very impressive for our age group though, if i get into stats you can be sure that's what i'll aim for (no orpheus for this kid, that's a bit too insane). hmmm... i wonder if the he60 still sells for $1000 used... and the woo audio ges looks pretty sexy... no, fight the urge!

edit: oh wow, looks like hungrych has an l3000 and an mpx3 slam se. impressive stuff!

Haha yeah, I've followed 003's quest, so I know what he has had in the best.

I'm 18, and have spent a decent amount on this hobby (above 500, under 1000$) My spending is getting close to the end however, all I need to do is get a new amp, maybe a dac, and my k340's recabled and I'll be happy.

I try to limit spending on hobbies that will not net me financial gain, which is why I am more willing to spend money on photography. Other than headfi, I have spent 5k minimum on mountain bikes, and have about 6k worth of photog equipment with me at university. Much of the first two was given to me through birthdays, xmas and others. I have been riding seriously for 6 years, and taking pictures for 5, to give you an idea.
