  I have not heard that album or of the artist. I took a quick peek on amazon to check it out. The first reviewer says this:
 
 AN AUDIO TRAVESTY OF A CLASSIC 5-STAR ALBUM
 
He goes on to say that the album is a victim of the loudness wars and one of the worst recording tragedies of all time.

Edit...seems he is referring to the 2009 remaster not the original version.

 The album sounds good. Its one of my all time favorites. "may you never" was covered by Clapton on slowhand. Clapton was a huge fan. For some reason nobody in the states knows about john martyn. You should give it a go.

As far as i know Clapton co-produced some of the album and john Paul Jones played mandolin.

Edit - Richard Thompson played mandolin. John Paul Jones played later on with him live.

I agree with all of Focker's comments and admire you, cabbage, for your dedication to the art of Head-Fi. To withstand such torment in the name of truly special audio is a valiant act to which we should all aspire!
