Hello guys ! As you can see I'm new here ...

I have Sennheiser HD 215 headphones.

When I first got them, I've immediately noticed that they "don't have bass". Well, I don't know why they are so bad when I'm using them with my iPod, iPhone or any other MP3 player. They even don't have bass when I'm using them with my laptop.

That was very frustrating, so I've been searching all over the net and I've found SRS Audio Sandbox

This program was everything I wanted. I could "boot up bass" in it and my headphones were OK. Bass was there, but I didn't like to have additional program running just to have decent sound on my headphones. Anyway, all of it was before Windows 7 was out. Now I have Windows 7, and I'm using it's default HD audio drivers, which have bass boost function, and it's perfect.

Before, when I was using default drivers without boosting bass, headphone didn't have much bass, and treble was too loud (I thought it would pierce my ears) when I turned up volume to 100%. Now with Windows 7, I've turned on bass boost function in sound card drivers (default microsoft HD audio drivers) and I've configured it like this:

and I can't complain anymore about the headphone. Sound is ok, I can now hear the bass and when I turn volume up to 100%, treble doesn't hurt my ears. But the thing is, now they aren't so loud when I turn volume up to 100%.

I'm no expert in this field. Actually, I don't know anything about headphones, speakers, amplifiers and sound cards (I think that you've already figured that out :) ). But I think that maybe my sound card doesn't have enough power for these headphone, as don't any other MP3 player ... On senheissers' official website, HD 215 belong to DJ professional group. So could it be that they are made for something better than integrated laptop sound card ? (it's Realtek something I guess ...)

So what do you think about it ? Can I buy something that will make my headphones better ? Another soundcard(USB) or amplifier ?

I've found this on ebay:

Do you think it's worth $80 ? Will it help me ? It would be really bad if I buy it and then nothing happens :)

Thanks for help !!!!
