Just a quick question since i want to try the HE5 ortho headphones myself  and i dont see much on the FS thread and Hifi already discontinued the release does anyone know how many were made or have been in production? Nankai? anyone who has an idea 500? 1000? how many were release to the market? thanks

not sure about numbers, but the HE-5LE replaced it, and from all accounts is an improvement.
at the same price of $699, i believe.

Not the same price, the HE5 was $600. About how many were made I don't know, but they will become very limited in the future.

I recall them coming out in batches of 20 or so at a time (at least the first few batches were 20ish) and given the few months of production, I'd guesstimate maybe 100-200? Most likely under 500.

Thanks for the info actually i might back out in buying them,  pity i already found a cheaper deal. im thinking whether to get my first orthodynamic phones or just go with an isolating closed headphone i need for work. its like choosing over a mango and an orange
 
i dont want to lose the HE5 since the seller give me a very very good bargain, but i also want to get myself  a D5/shure for closed.
