Just trying to track this one down. Which label is this one on? Does it have the yellow cover with a red baby, or portrait shot of BT himself in a blue shirt?

I've got the UK limited edition 2 disc version, with BT on the cover in a blue shirt. Distributed by Vital, code HEDSCDA 003. However it doesn't seem to be HDCD.

Thanks for the great resource.

A few notes:
* It would help if someone would note which versions of Pet Sounds are HDCD
* You can add to Rock/Pop:
-- Buffalo Springfield, Last Time Around (tagged HDCD)
-- CSNY, Daylight Again (tagged)
-- Crosby, Stills & Nash (debut album) (tagged)
-- Jerry Garcia, Garcia (1972) (tagged)
-- Jerry Garcia, Reflections (tagged)
-- My copy of Stephen Stills' Manassas came with an HDCD sticker on the jewel box
--Joni Mitchell, Court and Spark (tagged); you probably know about this already, but the references to pages 5 and 16 don't mention Mitchell
* Jazz:
-- Jerry Garcia, So What: it's actually by Garcia and David Grisman
-- Taylor/Grisman Jazz Quartet, I'm Beginning to See the Light (tagged)
* I'd probably put these under "Traditional" (recommend putting most of Grisman there)
-- Old & In the Way, Breakdown (tagged)
-- Doc Watson & David Grisman, Doc & Dog (tagged)
-- Jerry Garcia & David Grisman, Shady Grove (tagged)
-- Alasdair Fraser & Paul Machlis should be under Traditional, not Classical
* World Music:
-- Mike Marshall & Jovino Santos Neto, The Music of Hermet Pascoal (tagged)
* Country:
-- Emmylou Harris, Red Dirt Girl (not tagged)

The Jerry Garcia Band, after midnight KEAN COLLEGE, 2/28/80

(the use of upper and lower case in the title is the same as the album cover and spine)

The back cover references the HDCD trademark, but doesn't use the logo. So it's tagged, but you might miss it if you don't read the fine print.

As a fan of CSNY & HDCD:

Overview:

Apologies for any dupes - but I just registered here and have been through
all 40 pages...

*Marked disc only
**Marked disc and packaging

Neil Young

Loves HDCD. All Neil releases from 'Mirrorball' are HDCD and are **
EXCEPT for 'Are You Passionate' which is not HDCD (and an awful album).
'Living with War' is the only Neil release which is not * or **

Stephen Stills

'Stephen Stils'*

'Manassas'* (though did come with a HDCD sticker on case)

David Crosby

'Voyage' 3CD Box set**

'If I could only remember' The recent CD/DVD is listed as **
but does not play as HDCD on my Denon. I asked the producer Stephen
Barncard about this on a CSNY forum and he says Atlantic/Rhino messed
up the mastering. I doubt any will play HDCD, but I could be wrong.

CSN
'Crosby, Stills & Nash** (New remaster with bonus tracks only)

'Daylight Again'** (same as above)

'Greatest Hits' (I dont have this but someone in the thread said its not marked)

CSNY
'Deja Vu'** ONLY as an HDCD on mini LP sleeve from Japan AMCY 2726
This is the only issue of this album in HDCD anywhere and is now shockingly
rare. Copies turn up on ebay for $200+. Sound is worth it though...

'Looking Forward'** (Neil was involved - on Reprise - makes sense).

Buffalo Springfield
'Buffalo Springfield'** (62080-2 has Mono & Stereo mixes - most of the
budget versions I've seen are Stereo only and not HDCD).

'Buffalo Springfield Again'** (33-226-2 US version is HDCD - most European
ones are not - be carefull - look for the logo).

'Last Time Around'** (again US & Japan are - Euros are not - my US copy is
7 90393-2)

'Box Set'** The 4 CD Box Set is cos Neil put it together...

Unconfirmed (Cos I don't own them)

The CSNY Bible 'CSN& sometimes Y' lists the following:

Neils Geffen output got remastered in 2000 for US:

'Everybody's Rockin'
'Old Ways'
'Landing On Water'
'Life'
Are all supposed to be HDCD but I don't have the cat. nos.
all the versions I've seen in Europe are not HDCD...

CSNY (and Various Artists)
'Woodstock Vol 1' (80593-2)
'Woodstock Vol 2 (80594-2)
are listed as HDCD but I assume are US only - Euro versions are not HDCD).

Hope that helps and wasn't too boring!

Best wishes
ADY

Queensryche - Operation Mindcrime 2 *

Country

The best resource that I've found is CD Universe's HDCD category, which, as of 12/29/07, includes 544 titles, which you can sort by
sub-category. The disc prices aren't bad, though they sock it to you on shipping.

Just make sure that they're actual HDCDs... I'm assuming that CD Universe only markets real HDCDs, since that's a product descriptor.

As we're discovering, most discs that don't explicitly say HDCD don't contain HDCD information. I'd wager that almost everything on the first page of this thread with an asterisk beside it is not a true HDCD.

So how does one make sure? Please explain further.

Someone has written a standalone HDCD software decoder. It detects the presence of both peak extension and use of the transient filter (which are the two techniques specific to HDCD), and it decodes the peak extension information--not all discs use the transient filter info, and apparently it's more difficult to properly implement.

Check out this post from the thread HDCDs without the benefits.

When I play Michael Hedges - Aerial Boundaries in WMP it has a little 'HDCD' logo... But it doesn't say anything about it on the CD case.

Does this mean Aerial Boundaries is an HDCD or is it an error in WMP?

It's an unmarked HDCD
