HD800 vs HE1000/MHP1000 impressions. Suprises all around!

And I read that the HE1000 was made by timber wolves and is essentially an updated House Of Marley job....

My comment wasn't made to be an insult, sorry if you took it that way lol

It does make a lot of sense for a company like mhp who have no experience manufacturing headphones to consult beyerdynamic (who invented the first pair of headphones btw) lol.

I would say the 407 is still close enough to the flagships but the 207 was already quite far imho..

Define "far off."

From Innerfidelity, they measure pretty similarly, and sounded pretty similar to me, relatively speaking.

Looks anything but far off to me; you probably couldn't get two headphones that measure so close to one another actually.

The MPH1000 has Tesla technology so the driver is likely of Beyer design. The bails also look Beyer-like. The sound is not. The T1 makes my ears bleed and has no musical warmth to it. The MPH1000 has none of these issues, and sounds remarkably well balanced and spacious, to my ears....esp for a closed 'phone.

Which begs the question, why do you think the SR-009 sounded too bright to you when you heard it?

Waitasecond! I just analyzed the images again. The HRTF curves are at different places on either graph...?

The MPH1000 is indeed made by Beyer.

Tyll's raw measurements are on different levels, and sometimes different scaling, so I have to have the HRTF lines in different positions if you're just comparing them that way. That's why I have the gold guidelines there since those are the same regardless of the measurements.

That sounds like a very interesting HP. If they managed to keep the tesla detail and clarity while taming those piercing highs, I'd really like to hear it. Prolly not easy outside the US. Can someone recommend a dealer with demo mcintosh HPs in EU or Asia?

It's not easy to find in the US either. In fact I think you must contact mcintosh or a mcintosh supplier directly to order a pair. It's no wonder I've never heard of them.
Even google doesn't know what they are

. They would certainly benefit from a little marketing since they were clearly a superior version of the HD800 when I demoed them side by side.

Actually, the MHP1000 I tried were at a "Magnolia" Best Buy. So they can't be too hard to find? Especially if a huge chain store like that had them. Though the "Magnolia" ones aren't as common, I'd imagine them still being readily available through Best Buy.
