Don't mean to sound like a dick, but..

In your dreams.

Maybe in 4-5 years and you might see one for $1,000.

Enjoy those vintage speakers!
I doubt the HD800 will sell for $800 anytime soon, as they have just been released with an MSRP of $1,400.

I bought a new car and haven't visited head-fi in a while. Been on Yarisworld .com (exciting eh!). Was remembering HD650's selling for $800 when first released, so I guess I'm an optimist.

Maybe when the price drops you can get a pair that dont have first run problems like people are having now.

Sennheiser dropped one dealer for offering a discount already, so it looks like they are going to do their best to stop the price dropping as it did with the rest of the range.

Just got a new HD800. Let's hope the price won't drop too soon

A "Headphoneus Supremus" advocating buying speakers over cans? Heresy! (smile)

You can always wait and hope.
May end up being a long waiting game though...

Welcome to Head-Fi!

I think your memory is failing you. They listed for $449, I believe. Don't think they ever sold for more than that, and I doubt that they ever sold for full retail.

Eh, yeah, I thought exactly the same thing, too. I went and bought a pair of Quad ESL-63s for less than a HD-800. No regrets - the Quads are amazing.

Then I got to hear the HD-800 at CanJam. It's pretty good, too. Good enough to sell off several pairs of headphones and order. I figure the HD-800 will get more head time and more enjoyment than the collective of cans I'd sell.

Not quite what I expected to do, but why the hell not?
