Hi all

I'm currently using the Pico amp/dac as DAC to feed my Gilmore lite.

I listen with my HD650 basically all the time.

But every time I listen to music, I feel my ears (not earlobes, but ear internal/ear drums) are sore after awhile, not even an hour even.

Why is this?

I totally enjoy the sound of this set up, but the soreness within my ears (maybe ear drums, not sure) keep me from enjoying music for an extended period.
I'm a very quiet listener and I put a small volume even when I'm outside as my Mage gives me a very good seal.

I listen to mostly Chinese pop, especially female vocal.

Help, anyone?

Also, if I consider an upgrade, which one should it be (with my current set up for maybe upgrade my set up as well?) ?

HD800, T1, D7000, W5000, GS1000, or? open to suggestions.

Thanks in advance!

probably "bright" and "piercing", because Chinese pop doesn't have much bass.

I have the same problem. My ear's get very sore after an hour. I am a new owner of hd 650 however.  Anyone can shed a light on this? Could it be the headband being too tight? I tried listening to the hd 650 on very low volume and that seems to be the only thing that doesn't make my ears sore.

I had the same problem when I first got my K240DF's, that was two years ago, today I can listen to them as much as I like without getting tired ears, unless I listen too loudly of cause.

Seems like other people have the same problem.

This is so weird.

HD650 simply tires my ears out.
I didn't have the problem when i first got my k240s.

And any help on the potential upgrade?

I have one of those small bravo tube amps that are super cute in my opinion.

I'm using that as a re amp for my speakers.

Let me try that one to drive my hd650.

Three possibilities that I can think of:

either your HD650s are straight out of the box and need some time burning in,

(And)/OR

you're playing your music much too loudly and should turn the volume down

(And)/OR

you have EQ settings that have the treble too high

My HD650s are a month old now. Music is very low and my ear drums still hurt. No eq settings I am using xonar stx and using bit-perfect with asio (it will not allow me to change EQ =( ...)
