The cable is too long for me. I want it like 1-1,5 metres.
 
Or can I shorten it myself?

It's pretty easy to reterminate any cable. Just buy a plug, cut the stock one off, and solder the new one on at the length you desire.

Must there be a 1/4 plug? Can't I buy a 1/8 plug instead, or wont it work?

You can swap in a 1/8" plug for a 1/4" plug, I've done it on a couple different sets of 'phones.
