Would this be an upgrade? The cable broke on my 570's, and I'm not sure if the fitting on the phones is bad, or if it's the cable itself. I don't feel like ordering a new cable if the phones are bad. Are 595's all that different? I do not have an amp, and I enjoy bass and a good midrange.

I don't have the 570s, but I do have the 590s- and yes, the 595s are quite different from the 590s. Whether or not it would be an upgrade would depend on your ears. That said, I think the 590s sound a lot better than the 570. I still prefer the 590s to the 595s, but not by as much as I prefer the 590s over the 570s.

So yes, I would think it would be an upgrade. If you don't have an amp, try to get the 50 ohm version.

You manage to break the kevlar insulated cable?

The HD570 was a big blemish of Senn's product line up - a bunch of compromises resulting in a cold sounding product with flabby bass. Some people use to exaggerate on these forums that they require more power than an HD580 before they reach what little potential they have. Ok, enough of my ranting. I am just upset I actually stood by them for 5 years before buying my Beyer DT 931.

In short, buying HD595 would be a huge leap in improvement. You have many more options today too to choose from such as headphones from AKG and Grados. Hope this helps.
