Is it worth buying the anniversary edition as an investment? Putting the box in a cupboard for a year or three and forgetting about it?

Well, I am not buying it for resale values down the road. I am buying it because I love Hd800s and supporting Sennheiser as well. So, the question for anyone who loves 800s would be.....why not having both units ? LolNo
But if you were buying an hd800s anyway the anniv will likely go for a bit more resale down the road, plus is more unique looking.
The HD800 was basically the headphone that got me into high end headphones. An amazing accomplishment.Well, I am not buying it for resale values down the road. Mine too, I had the original HD800 and a Woo Audio WA6se. It was a great combo. The HD800 was basically the headphone that got me into high end headphones. An amazing accomplishment.

And that is why I gotta have her dressing in the dazzling goldenJust the words a man would say when he meets the right woman and vice versa.
I actually like the regular color scheme way better.
My problem with the regular HD800S color scheme is that the original HD800 had the silver-colored frame looking like it was clamping down on an interior black basket (as seen below in gold); that two-tone look was very cool as it better highlighted the different parts of the design. But in HD800S its all black so that detail is kind of lost, and just looks more plasticy to me as a result. If I had to rate I'd say HD800 (original silver if it didn't chip) > HD800S (gold) > HD800S (black)
Not a problem with the S so we can hope not a problem with the goldI wonder if the chipping issue was ever addressed with the S or now the Gold ...
The reason there’s no problem with the S is because there’s no paint, it’s just black plastic. The gold paint will probably behave the same as the silver. Not a problem with the S so we can hope not a problem with the gold
