No worries...

If you feal you found the right MIX go for it! But bear in mind that some of us have their own journeys/experiences/equipments too...and far more crazier that we might expect.

No thank goodness technology is doing away with the horribleness of USB.
I had all of that with my Pontus 2. Then once I got the Silent Angel streamer I could go direct I2S and not need a DDC. Sound was better and measurements were better.
Now I’ve optimized my network with FMC and LPSs for R26 via LAN and it is even better and measures better than direct I2S.
Here is a great educational review of how a flagship DDC via USB measures worse and subjectively sounds worse than a $150 direct streamer using only I2S. A DDC is pointless now when you have streamers with I2S.
A streamer is pointless when you have a really well implemented renderer via LAN in your DAC.

I mentioned in the group that I bought an RG400 50 Ohm BNC cable on AliExpress. And that he is good. He was good until he opened up completely. Now the high and medium tones are opened with it. And somehow sharp. I'll give him another chance. But if someone wants to buy such a cable, I can't recommend it yet.

I need to disappoint you, internal "streamer" of R26 is connected with USB to its DAC.

That’s not a disappointment. It’s not the same thing at all. 😂

Roon

XMOS is recognised as a generic USB device by Roon.
The way that the XMOS handles Ethernet/LAN is very different than USB.
It’s not at all like USB audio passed from a USB cable.
It's like audio is passed from LAN to Linux and than to USB connected DAC. :) I know there is no real cable but traces on PCB.

Okay Team Gustard R26 another newbie question,

Does the R26 use PS audio hdmi mapping or the JAVS method for the i2s port on the Gustard r26 or is the mapping for the HDMI in the Gustard R26 strictly proprietary.

Thanks in advance.

It seems that Output A is PS Audio standard and Output B is JAVS standard as far as the Rose Pin out. Neither are what Gustard uses,

My mistake, I missed that. Thank you.

@camrector thank you for the ongoing help. Another quick question. I am just going to go with the U18 as the uncertainty if some random DVI to HDMI cable is going to work makes the U18 route more of an easier pathway for me. That being said since I am technically not connecting my R26 to a computer but to my Hifi Rose 150b streamer which uses Android and the 150b and the R26 are indeed connected via USB, would I still benefit from the u18 or does the u18 only benefit those that are connected their computes to the r26.
