From what I've read, common routers introduce noise into the ethernet signal, which is pretty believable with cheap components and SMPSs, so even with a great LAN cable and great ethernet implementation on a DAC, there will be noise in the signal. Some of us have used the Delocks or maybe even a SOtM isolator if you really like to spend money: https://shop.highend-audiopc.com/products/sotm-iso-cat6-lan-isolator . Then there are always audiophile switches https://twitteringmachines.com/a-list-of-audiophile-network-switches/ . I am not doubting the effectiveness of any of these devices, have heard people floored by the difference in their systems. Just posting this to say the quietness war is never won apparently!Isn’t reintroducing usb again in this chain sub par?
I am running from a bridge via LAN straight into the Gustard with my Mac mini and router on the other side of the house.
My understanding is that by avoiding usb, you avoid significant noise / jitter and the need of an external clock. By going LAN direct - you should be getting a v clean signal and allowing the internal clock to do its job with minimal interference.
My understanding is that this should be the optimal solution. Have I missed something? I have read the article but doesn’t really explain why it’s more optimal to LAN direct (his use case with the Sonore in middle requires reclocking).
