Can anyone (in Australia) recommend a reasonably priced 5v linear power supply? For ethernet - fiber converter. Thanks in advance....

These little units are fantastic and dead silent.
Get the option with the Talema transformer.

If you are in EU, one R2R DAC that is also great (of w/c its modules could be found in other high-end dacs like Lampizator, Lossless, Sagra) is Soekris: http://soekris.dk/dac2541.html

No built in streamer but has a capable headphone out.

I never have liked how optical sounds. I have tried the sonore and regular FMC's with superb linear power supplies. To my ears, optical is overly smoothed, thinner, and brighter. Yes- it could be perceived as cleaner- no question- but tonally to my ears it harms more than helps. I recommend a passive filter like the network acoustics Muon passive filter. It cleans the signal just as much as the FMC but the three dimensionality is not lost. In fact, the sound is noticeably fuller.

After another try im now on the newest firmware. And bubble upnp and mconnect found the r26 on the first try but the trcks didnt start. After a reboot they cant find the r26 again.
Another issue is the that the power button keeps blinking in standby mode. Is this normal or does it want to tell me something?
And last but not least are using the r26 with roon as decoder and renderer or just renderer for mqa with tidal ?
I appreciate any feedback

I don't know if this will help anyone, but I could not get my music server to connect properly to the Gustard R26 via the I2S input. It connected, but PCM files displayed as DSD, and sound only came out of the left side with great distortion. I tried five different hdmi/I2S cables and nothing made a difference. Finally I bought the Gustard U18 to make sure the I2S input was working on the R26, and it was working. So my only solution was to build an I2S cable and try all the combinations to determine the correct pinout. I tried all combinations and nothing made a difference. Finally, I read somewhere about shorting Pin 15 with Ground, so I tried that on the connector side closest to the dac, and no difference. Last option, I shorted Pin 15 (the PCM/DSC flag pin) with Ground (Pin 17) closest to the streamer connector, and it worked! So, long story short, if you are having an I2S pinout issue, it might be that shorting Pin 15 with Ground (Pin 17 in my case) will do the trick. Unfortunately the R26 doesn't have any pinout options like Denafrips, so you are kind of stuck unless you order a special cable or make your own. I'm including picture of how to make the I2S cable if you need to. My cable was only to try different pinout options, so it's not complete and I wouldn't use it as a permanent option. By the way, this was my first I2S cable, so it's not pretty, but it got the job done. I tried adapting a regular hdmi cable and that was a disaster. It was much easier, about an hour of work, to make your own cable from scrap.

In my experience, both bubble and mconnect detected and played tidal without issues (v1.3), didn't try other options.
The power button blinks, that's normal when in standby.

On another note, there is a new Master clock out that seems to be a good value. The LHY OCK-2 beats the Gustard C18 in measurements, and has both sine wave and square wave. It can also be adjusted to 50ohms or 75 ohms. It runs $750 usd. Can be found at https://www.beatechnik.com/product-page/lhy-ock-2 . I'm not associated with the clock or company, but see a lot of potential when hooking up the R26 or U18 to it.

Indeed -115db at 1hz is very good.

After reading up on the fiber conversion as much as I could stand, I went ahead and ordered a pair of TP-link MC220L converters with transceivers, and 10 meters of OM5 Monoprice cable. This is going to be interesting, really looks like a winner in tweakland.
To anyone here who feels uncomfortable about this discussion, why not take a risk and try for yourself instead of making sarcastic comments, please.
