I’ve tried everything I know, using Wine and Winzip on my mac, and then on my gf’s windows laptop, but can’t get updates to unzip. Has anyone else had this problem?
All kinds of error messages.
Have to use Windows, won't work on Mac. I also had a lot of difficulty unzipping & needed special unzipper software - "rar" I think it was.

Can you have this DAC be fixed output via RCA and XLR outputs - in other words by pass the preamp? I couldn't find anything specific in the manual to do this other than the instruction that says to keep the volume at 0db and it by pass the attenuator

Yes. Just crank the pre amp to max then the next step is called FIXED. See my pic. Or you can enable DSD direct and or PCM NOS ON and this bypasses all the filters and just sends the digital signal to the ladder.

you don't need wine or any windows things. Unzip the .rar file with Keka. Open Terminal. Run
Code:
diskutil list
and find R26. (It will be 32GB drive.) Write that disk number. (diskX) Now type
Code:
gzip -dc
(also type space after -dc) and drag the .img.gz file to Terminal. Then type
Code:
 | sudo dd of=/dev/rdiskX bs=4m
. (replace X with previously written down R26's disk number.) It should look like this.
Code:
gzip -dc /Users/username/Downloads/something/something.img.gz | sudo dd of=/dev/rdisk3 bs=4m
Double check the command and press enter. Wait until it's done. Congrats! Now you have the newest firmware.

No, it works on Mac. I did it and I just wrote down how to do it.

This is really useful. Thanks.

I had an issue on first trying the update to 1v3 software where the R26 was not recognised on the USB connection. The renderer showed as 1v2 before any update straight from the factory. I posted way back about how to use Belena Etcher on a Mac and update the internal sdcard manually (removing the sdcard from the R26 and inserting into a USB on a Mac). However, if your renderer is showing as 1v3 when using Bubbleupnp or Mconnect streaming apps then you should have the latest software. Anyone else agree? I just tried the switching on from standby and holding the centre select button on the R26 and my firmware is also 11th July 2022.

Another question. Is ot normal that the power button always blinks in standby mode?
Yes that is how it shows standby rather than full on light for on.

When you update the fw with the new fw provided by Gustard and posted in this thread Gustard_R26_CT_221017_via_type-C the new fw appears as 17th October 2022

There was an update recently to handle the buzzing display.
Yes, I know. I tried it and unfortunately didn't fix the issue for me. As a side effect, the new fw makes the unit use the relays more often than with the old fw. It seems that with the new fw the unit mutes the output everytime it unlocks to the data stream

OK thanks for the clarity and link, looks like I should upgrade, unfortunately the file is an .exe windows file. Mediafire, where the file is located states it's compatible for a Mac but it isn't. Have to dig out an old Windows laptop.... if they still work from over 10 years ago.
