GUSTARD DAC-R26 Balanced Decoder R2R+1Bit Dual Native Decoding Music Bridge

OK thanks for the clarity and link, looks like I should upgrade, unfortunately the file is an .exe windows file. Mediafire, where the file is located states it's compatible for a Mac but it isn't. Have to dig out an old Windows laptop.... if they still work from over 10 years ago.
Tried my old Windows laptop but I get that repairing file system message, left for two hours still frozen, checked bios etc, broken. I don't want to spend half a day sorting it out.
Is there a way to install the exe upgrade file using a Mac?
BTW tried Wine but it's broken in Ventura the latest Mac OS.

This DAC/Streamer looks like serious stuff and qoute like this:

"I’ll go and say it out loud, that this is one of the fastest sounding R-2R ladder DACs that I’ve tried to this day and it’s one of the most impactful one as well, as it somehow reminds about the kick of the Rockna Wavelight and Audio-GD R7"

"Without a single doubt in my mind, there is not even a contest, as R26 Discrete seems much clearer sounding than the Denafrips Venus ($3000), it seems clearer than the Musician Pegasus ($1100) and dare I say…it’s more impressive than the Musician Aquarius ($3200)"

How is the Quality Control with Gustard. Alot lot better than Topping and SMSL?

Exactly. Sounds like my story, what a bunch of bullsh*t that a mass market product in 2022 doesn't provide useable updates, particularly for mac users. Yesterday I tried FIVE different apps on both mac and widows, error after error. spent as much time deleting apps as it would have taken to do the proper update. I have been in conversation with the guy from Gustard who provided the supposed patch, I'm going to talk to him about this and see if we get anywhere.
Today I will give the coding (thank you @ NoaHimesaka!) a shot, hopefully future updates won't require a tech wizard to save our arses.

With you all the way, I've just been wasting the whole morning trying virtual machine software on my M1 MacBook to run Windblows (UTM, Virtualbuddy to name a couple) all didn't work, it's a right pain (best behaviour language filter applied). Good luck with talking to Gustard......

I'm writing them this morning, after I give Noa's rewrite a shot. It's a scary thing for me to start writing new code into my system, like a blind guy driving an Indy car.

The streamer works flawlessly for me with Bubble UPnP , using ana Android tablet as the controller. Not a single burp. Tried Mconnect with the ipad, also perfect. Tidal and Qobuz.
Does it work out of the box not other 3rd party with spotify and qobuz?

Also this humming issue. This sound not very promising. The only fix that should be made is if the Coils are lose. Now Im concerned to buy it because of poor Quality Control

No, there is no Spotify or Tidal Connect, you have to use a third party app like those mentioned, or Roon. It was new for me too, but worked out without much hassle. Not a huge fan of the Bubble interface, but it will do for now.
The hum only affects a small percentage of us, and eventually we'll get to the bottom of it!

Ok the streamer part is very important for me, as I only want to set up my NAS as file location/DLNA. I wont be using Roon or other workarounds. Bummer! ... this Dac sounded so promising but the streamer part should be "connect" also

That should be a piece of cake, not a gimmick at all, this streamer is very good. The upnp apps can find your local files easily and display your library.

Ok. I just subscribed to Tidal. Also use Spotify. To play Tidal I have to have/turn on another device/server to stream through?

The stream goes straight to the R26 via ethernet cable, so it's not getting messed with by any devices. You install either BubbleUpnP (windows/Android) or Mconnect (apple) to a phone/laptop/tablet, and it serves as a remote. In practice, it's as if you're streaming through the device as you normally would, but that's not what's happening. The biggest difference is that you won't be interacting directly with the Tidal/Spotify interface, you'll be looking at the Bubble interface, which acts as a middleman of sorts. I'm not crazy about the Bubble UI, but it's just fine and works really well. Hopefully Gustard will release a Tidalconnect update at some point. And if yo have local storage connected to your router, the bubble or mconnect apps will find that too. It's pretty slick, really.

But funny thing is it does mqa, so i don´t understand why it wont do the "Connect"

here is a quote from another forum:
"It's not a streamer. A streamer is able to play files on its own (from a NAS or connected USB drive or internal drive) or play Qobuz, Tidal, or Deezer on their own without any additional computer. And the Gustard R26 doesn't do that.

What the R26 has is an ethernet input that supports being a Roon endpoint or a UPnP MediaRenderer. It's just an additional digital input to the DAC. Just in this case it is an ethernet input."
