Either adjust the treble in your system or listen only at nigth. As SusayTofu said, sometimes we are not in the mood.
Yes i stopped listening, maybe its listener fatigue🤔. It is night time here btw. 😁

I did try to plug my preamp into the filtered socket of the power conditioner. The brightness is gone but it also takes away the dynamics.
I think i remembered that if the interconnects were to run in parallel with the power cables the sound will be affected. Will try to check on this too.
I have stopped listening to take a break. Will try again tomorrow and if it sounds good. It could probably be me. 😅
It was smth downstream. Cables should always cross each other not run parallel, but probably not much effect. Get a scope.

I think the key here lays in the “sustained longer bass notes”. R26 bass sounds a lot like music coming from LPs and Sabre bass has no extension (at least to my ears) I have also noticed that after 30 mins of playing music using R26, bass becomes a bit tighter.
The bold part makes me sure my initial point was and is right. Of the two DAPs I have, one has a Sabre DAC chip, and that is the DAP with most sub bass extension (HM901s). My point is that the DAC chip or R2R ladder is only a part of what makes a DAC sound like is does. The (analog) output stage plays a big role too, including the sub bass extension. A part of that is the output impedance in relation to the input impedance on the pre-amp.

Sorry for the noob question but what does
This thing do ?

I you have an FMC mod, replacing the Fiber SFP modules to this $38 wonder will uplift your system SQ.

@BShaw at AS they attest its better than Melco"s $1K countrerpart. Alex of Uptone Audio higly recommends it.

Have the Amphenol in order. BUT my $10 a pair 10GTek DAC Cable throunces my $86 a piece Finisars. So...

Its a $38 a pair investment. BUT if those guyz says so...So trying won't hurt a bit...

Longest is 7 meters:

I’ve had the Finisairs as well for about 2 years. I’ll try the Gteks they’re $45 for the 10m length, worth a shot, thank you.

Hey Mickey, would you mind dropping a link to the AS thread where they're talking about this cable?

@BShaw Sure!

DAC Cable Thread in AS: LINK

Explanation why DAC cable is superior: LINK

In HF from this post onwards (esp. on the last page): LINK

NOTE:
  • There are two types of DAC cables (Passive and Active|). The correct type is PASSIVE (see explanation on link #2).
  • Some DAC cables has EEPROMS for dedicated brands (HP, Dell, Cisco, Lenovo etc.). Be sure its the SFF-8431 open standard.
  • Amphenol DAC Cable has two types of wires, be sure to get the: quad shielded SKEWCLEAR version.

Anyway, the right cables i already posted on the Mouser links HERE (last part of post). So don't worry yourself too much on the above notes.

I am learning also as i prooceed. So sorry if i keep updating my posts.
