Hi, can I connect an android phone via usb-c and use bit perfect with usb audio player pro? Did someone use it that way? Or do you recommend to use upnp ?
HI, yes you can use android phone with UAPP and usb-c/usb-b cable into R26, but the best sound quality is, when you use net input with some upnp app, bubble upnp or UAPP too for example, if you have tidal, you can use also tidal connet, but you need to have older version of tidal app from apkmirror(2.64.2).

If you're gonna use UPNP, better go for BubbleUPnP which has a more solid implementation/integration. UAPP being great on USB connected devices, is still a work-in-progress as a UPnP Player.

Agree, I have more stable connection through Bubble than UAPP..

Prompted by this discussion I compared Jplay on my iPad, BubnleUPnP on my Samsung mobile and Roon/HQP via the Mac Mini. R26 PCM NOS ON and Tidal for all three.

Bubble sounded very good, slightly better than Jplay to my ears (refinement and soundstage precision), which I wasn't expecting as I'd heard Jplay was very highly rated

Roon/HQP was the most resolving and refined by some margin, with an expansively deep and wide soundstage especially when upscaled to PCM768. Though to be fair the pure NOS of the iOS & Android apps had a little more leading edge transient impact as you'd expect, if a rougher edge or two.

If you have an android phone, try putting it in battery saver mode... This has a small but positive impact on the sound with my Samsung.. spooky action at a distance, I know.

Roon/HQP no doubt on SQ (prefer it too). But they can't beat BubbleUPnP on price and online/network service integration.

For a normal user using BubbleUPnP, all he/she needs is his/her phone/tablet. Roon needs a core/server.

But again were not NORMAL....:L3000:

is BubbleUPnp just if you are using local files as your source or does it also integrate with streaming providers (in my case Qobuz)?

Hi,
New member hear so please go easy!

I have an R26 with U18 and C16 fed from an iFi Stream using Roon.
I have just updated the FW to 1.43. I was expecting the menu to change to a new larger format but it is unchanged. Before updating to 1.43 I was at FW 1.2

Any ideas?

Thanks!

Andy

What you did was updating the R26's streamer, for larger characters you need to go to first page and search for the firmware update for the larger characters, it is the R26's firmware, not the streamer FW, they are diferent things.
