Grado vs. Denon

I have also been reading some great things about the Audio Technica ATH-M50s: good bass, well constructed, neurral sound and easy to drive, so now im leaning towards them. They are a bit cheaper than the Dennon ADH-1001 Not sure which way to go!

I would go with the M50 over the Denons - no personal experience with either, but I've heard that the Denon series block out very little sound. The additional isolation of the M50 may be more desirable for you on the go.

The Denon AH D1001 isolates well, it leaks more sound than you would expect.

Im a bit confused. are you saying the Dennon leaks a lot, or that it does not leak very much? It doesn't really matter, i don't want the phones for portability, they will be powered by the headphone jack of my A/V receiver. Sound leakage won't matter, either, when I listen i will be alone in the room. I just don't want the speakers to disturb my wife who will be in another room. From what i have read the Audio Technica has excellent, but not exaggerated[size=12pt] [/size]bass. I've read almost nothing bad about them.

Headphones that isolate you from outside noise mean that you cannot hear much or any noises from around you when you are listening to music. Headphones that leak noise mean that someone next to you or in the same room or if they are really bad can hear what you are listening to.
 
The Denons isolation is good, but not the best and they leak more noise than many other closed backed headphones.

Gotcha, thanks. Right now im pretty sure im going to get the Audio Technica's. i read in another post where compared to the Grado SR60s they have more bass and rolled off highs, and that is exaclty what im looking for.
