Does the African blackwood feature any stain on them?  Or, is that just the buffed lacquer appearance?  Believe me, I love the wood - the grains, the Zebrawood, etc. - however, there are times when one would just want a "stealth" Grado and that finish does its best to keep that somewhat-stock appearance.

It's Tung oil.

I'm keen on making some woodies but can't find in what way the cans need to be changed to achieve a similar sound, or can I simply copy the original can dimensions? Also before I get to carried away with the idea, are you able to dismantle the phones and put them back together if you don't like the changes?

Thanks
Michael

if you want the HD414 pads order them from Sennheiser as they only charge $4 and change each pair, the other suppliers charging from $8 to $22 are highway robbery
