Adhoc, Sorry to freak you out, I didn’t really do that, as I am a female with delicate skin. To further clarify, I’ve updated my signature.

Edwood, I’m keeping my new title, thanks! The sand paper was not real, but I do have red and sore spots from the drivers touching my skin. Extended listening sessions is not an option (for me) with this headphone, but I still like it and I didn’t think they were overpriced, <$200 is not too much to ask for the Best Rock Can in the World, right?

I imagine most hardcore rockers don’t care about my wimpy observations, but for comfort, I'll look elsewhere.

grado has 17 people just employed let alone anything else as far as outside investors go.

I thought Grado Labs was a small operation but never imagined it was that small. I’m impressed, as they have built a good reputation. I wish them continued success.

Guys, Grado and Sennheiser models are quite rugged. It's the low-end Stax models in which plastic parts may snap off if dropped.

Sennheisers have the best pads for skin comfort, although the HD600 clamps the head pretty hard compared to Stax.

I am in love with the Grado look. For the few short hours I had with the Grado 325's at Iron_Dreamer's place, I felt like I was in heaven. Their look is just so darned appealing, and the comfort is not as much of an issue with me.

Sovkiller-

on the issues of looks i agree somewhat..... i think the models with the black plastic are ugly, but you can't deny how good the 325, the RS-1/2, HP-1000 and PS-1series look...... they look much better than the lower end models.....

let's imagine you are a kid selling lemonade in a neighborhood and you had the damn best lemons ever to make juice with..... you make the juice but you don't use any sugar.... just pure unsweetened lemonade from the best lemons ever..... people in the neighborhood come and try it out..... they all think that is some of the best tasting lemonade ever, but all agree that it could use some sugar.... a few people keep buying your lemonade because them are some damn good lemons, but the others go back to store bought lemonade, which may or may not be made from some damn good lemons, but it is sweetened....

you could add sugar and get not only the few customers you have but also get all the ones that went to store brand lemonade because they couldn't deal with unsweetened lemonade.

you can keep selling unsweetened since you are still making money, so why mess with success.

or you can sweeten it and damn near guarantee making $texas

adding comfort is a key ingredient to producing a superior product.......

But didn't Grado listen to the comfort complaints, which is why we have bowls and comfies? And now from what I'm reading Head-Fi wants the old Flats back? Grado must have washed his hands of the fans at that point.

what bothers me really is the headband, maybe i'm just proned to headaches, but sometimes even with 15mins of listening my head hurts from the headband

i for one is in love with the grado look, i wish the hd650s look like the grados...but they're not

Your kidding right ??????

My ears are red and raw from the pads and the driver. I have the bowls , flats, and senns. Senns are soft but the driver is not.
You don't just wash your hands of fans, but also future customers.

I'll have my lemonade sweetened and damn the good lemons.

i'm a textiles and soft goods person so i am going to look into making some prototypes pads from a dozen or so types of foam...

i'll then mail them to Zanth (and depending how many pairs i make to other head-fi grado specialists) test for comfort qualities and sound qualities......

i got the equipment at my disposal to make flats perfectly...soft goods die press cutter that is collecting dust.... once i find out the measurements on a pair of flats i'll start checking on prices for the die to cut the pads.... i got a bunch of companies to contact to make them..... might even be able to get it donated (the equipment is located at a university)

at the very least a die could be made to work with a Pana-Vise press so pads can be pressed out one at a time

i am thinking a hybrid design would work best.... quick simply take the most comfortable foam and the best acoustic foam and the most sound sheilding foam and glue the 3 together - neopolitan grado pads.....

that sounds great! maybe you can make a foam pad for teh headband too! i want to try that foam originally developed by nasa, but just too lazy to call in for a sample, i bet that would be comfortable on the head

Yes they look a lot better than the lower end ones, and probably they were better terminated also, but still to me they look like a headphone from the 40-50's. The way they attach the cups to the headband, and the headband it self, the cables, plugs etc....all is retro looking, maybe this is the charm many people find on them, the retro look...for me there is no charm on that, again if they were considered as comfortable, I would still consider them as a retro/curiosity as according to the huge majority they do sound good....but for me comfort is a most....

the one thing i could do is a DIY headphone pads

i cut use the automated cutter to cut out lots of the fabric for the headbands, but i don't have time to sew them....

i dont know if the cutter can do leather and vinyl though (unless it is really supple leather or thin vinyl)

maybe could even have different headband fabric types.......

checkers, houndstooth, plaids, leopard print, stripes, fur, etc....

i'll look into that... i get my hp-1s tomorrow or saturday so i'll let yall know if that is possible
