hi guys,
 
The right speaker on my Grado GS1000 gave out. The cable connected to the right cup is loose compared to the left - just a wiring issue? i live in Dubai and as much as possible I want to avoid sending it to the states for repairs and have to wait for months to get it back. 
 
is this going to be an easy fix? is it ok to go to an ordinary electrical technician here in dubai to get the job done?

Measure for continuity along the wire from the plug to the cup.  That's step one.

The main issue here is that you're going to need to get into the GS1000 wooden cups if the issue is with the driver or the connection to the driver, and nobody other than either a VERY skilled wood-worker with knowledge of Grado headphones or Grado Labs themselves are going to be able to get in there without damaging your phones. Check out the RS1 mod thread that's been floating around lately if you want to see what they'd be up against. 
 
Hopefully it's a break in the wire somewhere that is reachable... but I sincerely doubt that. What do you see when you look into the back grille?
