j/k

Always just missed one for sale before. Finally got lucky and nabbed one for a good price a few months ago :)

Yikes--you may own more than I do!  You certainly have some that I don't which are rarer.

I’ve owned a lot over the past 5 years. I only own two now. Lots of used sales. I like trying out different headphones to see how they sound and see if they add new insight or perspective for the music I like.

Anyone watch Covert Affairs? I swear Auggie is advertising Grado's, I didn't like the aluminum Grado's at all before but seeing him wearing them on my TV made me like them.

Come back wallet! I won't hurt you too badly this time...

He was "advertising" Bowers and Wilkins in the latest episode.

I have these 125e's sitting on my desk unopened and am so tempted to try them out. Are you guys sure it's worth it to go with the SR 80e's instead; do you think the "e" model would have been an improvement on the 125i, which most people here seem to think was a "dud"?

80e: more bass, more treble
125i: more clarity

@Liu: most people think it was a dud? No, not in this case. one person said it was a dud.

and most of the rest here just haven’t bought it. why? probably because it’s an in between model. not as cheap as the SR80 and not as much of an upgrade as the SR225.

the SR125 is not necessarily worse than the 80, it’s just around 50% more expensive (it’s 150 vs 100, I think?) and most people around here have put in a few more bucks and make the jump to the SR225 for better sound over the SR80.

it falls in the middle of what most of Grado’s customers wants so it’s not as popular. but it’ll still sound like a Grado and should offer some improvements over the Sr80 (but they may or may not be large enough to be worth it).

Keep it if you’re fine with the money you spent on it. if you want to get back some money and get similar sound, get the SR80. Don’t expect the SR80 to sound better. They will both sound similar with some subtle differences in the high frequencies /upper mids presence.

So 125e vs. 80e? You're not at this point going to have a lot of opinions for comparing the e series because most people have tried only one (or two but not necessarily those two), so decide based on money and hassle.

I got the 325e's yesterday.  Very pleased with them so far.  My first pair of Grado's.  I don't have any issues with the comfort while wearing them, although my ears do feel a bit better after taking them off.

I've been thrilled with how they sound on everything so far (Tried out some Heart, Derek & the Dominoes, Weezer, Pearl Jam, REM).

Tried the 225e, 325e and 500e albeit briefly. I don't understand why the 225e is so revered - sounded pretty mellow and flat to my ears. Lacked the excitement I was looking for.

500e>325e>225e
