I've been seeing people selling these like crazy all over reddit. Not living up to expectations?
Depends what are your expectations?

I got the 120mm Sheepskin pads in yesterday for my GL2000. They are really easy to put on due to their size of course, and the comfort is great, they are noticeably thicker than stock. The sound difference however is minimal, which I believe is because the ear openings of the stock and new pads are almost identical. The only difference being the distance the new pads keep your ear from the driver. I got bigger changes by removing the driver and lining the sides of the ear cups and the sides of the driver itself with some felt. The sub bass is much cleaner and hits harder, and the vocals warmed up just a tad. No changes to the treble that I could tell though. I'm going to remove the paper over the drivers soon and play with some different materials.

Lining the driver? Do you have any pics of this mod?

Lining the driver? Do you have any pics of this mod?

I ended up going back in the headphones before the weekend, here are a few pics. I have the felt lining the side of the interior of the cup in between the driver mounts, headband clips, and hole for the jack. And then I have the surround of the driver itself also lined with some felt. It really helped with some slight rattle/reverberations during sub bass notes and the vocals sound slightly warmer. Only thing left to do is play with the materials over both sides of the driver.

Sweet, That was what I was looking for to remove the "rattle”

Happened only when sub bass boosted with 15db+ , still after I removed one of the metal grills, and applied felt on the metal surface to the outside of the driver.

I also tried to fill in the empty room inside the driver.

Bass got tighter, but lost "slam" so i left it like this instead, these are gaps that are covered over by original felt on the ear side, tough it might reduced “echo”/resonance. But I don’t know if it did anything since I went from having everything filled with blutack to only those.

Just wanna drop in to say hello and cheers to fellow GL2000 owners and that my GL2k and my Schiit Loki are best friends.

I dislike doing EQ on my computer but my fiddly fingers enjoy the analog tone controls. Anyone else enjoying theirs with the Loki? I also heard they will be coming out with a Loki Max which is going to be fun (not for everyone).

What did you hear about Loki Max and what settings you settle on your Loki?

I have some soft fabric tape, could do two layers of that. But does it mean that bass won't distort when I boost it in EQ? Because rn anything above +3 db in foobars eq is distorting the crap out of these.

What amp are you using? Try to lower you gain in the eq app, if you only increase bass and don’t decrease gain on some sources you could experience distortion from the source. See if you also get distortion when using different headphones

Like @Sebbai was talking about, you need to lower your pre-amp equal to or more than your highest raise in your EQ. Like if your highest raise was in your sub bass and it was +5db, your pre-amp gain needs to be set to -5db. That prevents clipping, which is more than likely the distortion you're hearing. Because I've taken my GL2000's up to around +18db in the sub bass region just to test it's limits and it didn't distort. I'm running EQ APO on PC-->D50 DAC-->JDS Labs Subjective3-->Emotiva BasX A100 w/ the jumpers as my chain with the GL2k's.

Who else ordered those Aliexpress Sheepskin Pads? I just got mine today and they instantly became my favorite pads to use on my GL2000.
They replace the Brainwavz XL, which while they were good, they don't have the bass impact that the Sheepskins do. Treble stays relatively tamed as well, even though I run modded with no tuning filters.

I have similar ones but not exactly the same.
