The EarFun App just got updated and there is a new FW for the EarFun Air Pro 4 claiming "some fixes" and "adds Transparency" I thought they had that unless not the same as Ambient.

I cannot remember if they had this before but Ambient now has 2 modes, Default and Natural.
I don't know if it was the firmware update, but my Air Pro 4 is f.....

I pair them successfully, the app connects to them fine, but when I close the lid they stay connected to my iPhone 15 Pro Max.

In bluetooth settings on my phone, I see they disconnect at first, but then they connect again. And just stay connected... with the lid closed...

And the app connects to the buds as well, again with the lid closed...

(I've tried resetting them with no luck)

Edit: I think (hope) I solved it! 🙏

My very early experience with the Earfun Air Pro 4. Soundwise I compared them to the Sennheiser Momentum True Wireless 4.

Positives
- Light and comfortable, fit my ears very well (just tried the medium original tips as of now).
- Nice app with loads of EQ possibilities, modes for ANC/Ambient etc..
- A lot of features and codec support.
- Loud enough.
- Sound is very good considering the price I end up paying incl p&p (no tax). $62.99.
- Sound seems balanced, with both nice vocals, deep bass and decent detailed highs.
- Ear detection works very well.
- I have not taken any calls yet, but tried a couple of speech recordings, and I sounded good.
- The ANC also works better than I thought, with lots of modes to try in the app.
- Ambient mode is good, actually better than the MTW4 (sound more natural?).
- The case is quite light and small, and has what it seems nice build quality (even it's plastic fantastic). Hinges seems sturdy enough, not too "flimsy".

Negatives
- Noticable narrower soundstage compared to the MTW4.
- The bass is a bit more muddy in the Air Pro 4, it's punchier with the MTW4.
- Sound is better with ANC off. Especially the bass is deeper and "heavier" with ANC off.
- The highs are more "crispy" on the MTW4 as well.
- As I stated in the post before, I struggle with the buds keep connection with my phone when the lid is closed. Sometimes it disconnects after a while, sometimes not...
(Edit: I think I solved it 🙏)

All in all... a steal for $62.99!

Edit: No annoying dropouts or disturbances when chewing/moving mouth as with the MTW4s... 😎*
Edit2: Customizable controls that works just as they intend to :)

Great review --- i'm in the same boat --- my 2nd set of MTW4's sent back for "repair" although there's nothing seemingly physically wrong with them -- just the firmware is woeful on the MTW

I love the sound signature on the MTW but the connection issues and dropouts with moving jaw are just unforgivable on a £300 product -- do they even test them?!

I haven't had any firmware/app/battery drain problems or other issues, other than with ANC on, they are useless to me. Due to the mentioned dropouts/disturbance when moving the mouth... This is exactly the same with the Devialet Geminis for me btw.

I manage to reduce the issue with using the Flexifit foam tips, but it's not enough...

Yes, the MTW4 sound quality is very good, and they are better on every aspect compared to the Earfuns.

Edit: My nephew tried my MTW4s, and he had no dropouts when moving the jaw... so this is individual I guess...

Yeah --- my biggest issue though with the MTW4 right now is that the left bud drained to 0% in the case (right + case = 100% each) and it won't even charge to boot up --- that's 2nd time that happened so they're back again for the 3rd time --- this time i went via Amazon rather than via Senn so no idea what'll happen --- but i have lost all hope/faith in those buds now

I have had some TWS that seem to have this issue and it usually was about how tightly they sealed and my jaw and ears. To me it was like they cut out but in actuality it was my ears that were cutting out, if you will.

It’s been a while since I was excited about taking lunch in my car and listening to music…. The Sony planar TWS have done just that! For $199.00, I’d say that’s a fantastic bargain. I can’t guarantee they’ll sound this good out of any DAP, but through my Sony they sure do…. I was listening to hires music on YouTube and was floored by the natural tone of the cello, piano and violin on some Mozart trios.. There really is something special about the planar transducers properly EQ’d…. Sony has a winner here…. 👍

Do they have an app and any features or pure sound quality is the main driver to get them?

I can not wait for some 3rd party tips for the GB3Pro, the large are not large enough. There is a Diofit brand on Amazon and those are to small as well. Come on Spinfit and make a XXl like over 16mm.
They make Xtra small which I can not belive people have ear holes that small.

I did try them on my Apple phone. Yes, you’re right, my Sony app doesn’t recognize them. Apples built in preset EQ settings works on them fine, and I find the late night curve best for me. The strange part is, that on the Apple, music through YouTube (hires) sounds better that through the music app. I think I just need to play with it more. YouTube sounds really good, but these connected to my Sony DAP definitely sounds better. Could be the much better EQ on Sony than apples. Ha!!! I’ve been using these so much I need to give my hearing a rest. Interesting I hear zero ringing after use, could be the low distortion drivers…

Large fit for me but it could a bit larger, or at least in my case my brain thinks so. The app says I have a good seal but they feel slightly small to me. But in my case I have a done a semi rigorous head shake and they start to loosen but don't come out of ears.

The Elite 10 had a similar effect to me which actually helps me accept how the GB3P feel in my ears.

Ok, I’m going to stake my non-considerable reputation here…. The Sony’s are the sh$t, and I mean that in a very good way…. The wood block keeping time on “play that funky music white boy” has amazing texture, same with the trumpets and trombones. I would guess, if you’re a PS5 guy, then wow what a bargain.
Ya got it all covered 👍
