Hi everyone :)

I'm not very knowledgeable when it comes to headphones, so I'm seeking your help. I need a new pair of headphones, for gaming (mainly Starcraft), and general use. The music I listen to is rock and electronica. I obviously also watch movies :p.

The soudcard I most likely will be getting is ASUS Xonar D2. The headphones I was thinking about, were:

Sennheiser HD595
Sennheiser HD555
Creative Aurvana Live!

I'm sure you guys will give me some more great suggestions :p

I'm also confused whether I need an amplifier...

I don't particularly need closed headphones, and a detachable cable would be nice, as I tend to chew on it

A good pair of Sennheiser headphones is probably your best bet.

You won't need an amplifier, but when you end up with spare cash, head-fi will convince you to get one.

Instead of getting an expensive soundcard, I would recommend investing in a quality DAC.
