I love this guy's reviews.  He's always so hilarious.  I'm pretty much sold on these headphones.

maybe im a cynic, but has he ever disliked a headphone?  i watched a few of his vids, and he seems like he generally is a fan of all of them.  including the mad dogs he says the thx00 makes look incompetent.  seems pretty knowledgeable though.  just sayin...

I think most people generally just don't go through the effort to review things they hate. Like I'd never write a review for the ATH M50X, DT990, DT880, or ESW9. Life's too short to make, edit and upload a 15 minute video about something you hate. My guess is he simply ignores stuff he doesn't like.

He has a tendency to exaggerate and say the latest thing he's reviewed is better than everything else.

He dislikes the Beyer T90s and ATH-M50s with a passion though.

His reviews are always so brief when talking about sound, though. I rarely ever hear him talk about a headphone's spound signature in detail.

He did initially have a few scathing reviews, but changed his attitude around the time he reviewed the 1st gen Beats, saying that "there's no such thing as a bad headphone", just different. In all of them he does quote a few good and bad things. Especially if they don't have removable cables.

I think that's because Z is well aware that he's not a hearing god, and thinks of himself more as the average joe when it comes to reviews. I like to consider him the Regular Car Review of audio.

I've only seen a few of his reviews. He's more of a web personality who happens to review headphones than a "professional" reviewer.

But... he is funny as heck, so he's o.k. in my book.

I just did a search on the included 6.3 to 3.5mm adapter and the consensus seems to be that it's not very good. I know that's going to annoy me because most of my lisetning is on my Oppo HA-2, which only has a 3.5 mm headphone input.

When people refer to the Sennheiser one, do they mean this: http://www.amazon.com/Sennheiser-561035-Adapter-Plug-Headphones/dp/B00L2SZFYU/ref=sr_1_5?ie=UTF8&qid=1454126020&sr=8-5&keywords=sennheiser+6.3mm+to+3.5mm? Or the one that came with the HD598?

This one is more similar to the one I had on my HD598: http://www.amazon.com/Cable-Matters-5-Pack-Plated-Adapter/dp/B00LWB4XSG/ref=sr_1_4?rps=1&ie=UTF8&qid=1454126198&sr=8-4&keywords=6.3mm+to+3.5+mm+adapter&refinements=p_85%3A2470955011%2Cp_72%3A2661618011.

What does the group suggest?

Thanks,
Joe

The first one because it doesn't put any stress on your headphone jack.

Thanks, @harpo1! I wanted to give @SonicElectronix my business, but they said it was discontinued. That's a dumb move on Sennheiser's part. Their design is apparently impeccable, and I'm sure it can't cost much to make.

Anyway, an Amazon Prime seller had a used-liked new one for $13.

I'm glad I ordered it before the cans arrive.

Everything in this hobby is expensive.  Hell cables that have $30 in parts can cost upwards of $200 to $300 dollars.
