Fostex x Massdrop TH-X00 Review

Sounds like the 400i cable, I really believe it has to deal a lot with the protection of the cable form interference.  Just a theory,  What If you took that POS cable that came with the 650's and rewrapped that wiring with something like UL VW-1 PET Braided Sleeving  and then put a ferrite bead on both ends of the cable.  Would it sound better?

I don't think it was an interference issue because it sounded like junk even when I tried it with a turntable with a tube amp. Also it sounds dull, not noisy. Like it has a 8-11kHz filter built in or something. Which is particularly problematic because the HD650 is very gentle and smooth already at 8-11kHz (i.e. The infamous Sennheiser veil) and the cable makes it even worse.
I actually think the HE400i cable is very good sounding, though I agree that it's way too stiff.

Sounds like the gauge size of wires they used was way to thin.

Its a good cable,  just to short and the right angle end is not for me unless I want to use it with my Mojo for mobility

So this is awesome!  I finished my little tiny project on my x00's

Had the cable modded with 2.5mm connections ✅
Changed the pads to Alpha Pads ✅
Took the Lohb pad off my LCD-3's and put the on my X00's ✅

Love the strap on the x00's

I love this guy's reviews.  He's always so hilarious.  I'm pretty much sold on these headphones.

Yes he has hated many headphones. also if you know him he will tell you that he doesn't "hate" any headphones but sound are better compared to others

Love how those alpha pads look. They probably feel amazing as well, I love leather.
I'd love to get alpha pads on mine, but a lot of people are saying they sound bad on these cans.

I think they sound pretty good,  I have put the original pads back on and noticed that everything sounds in my face vs with the alpha pads I felt it gave it a tiny tiny bit of separation or depth plus with my tinnitus does not go crazy while listening with the alpha pads vs when I put on the original pads

But like I always say  Its what you like

Which do you prefer between these and the Beyerdynamic DT1770, especially for metal and gaming?

Anyone else who's heard both is welcome to chime in as well.

DT1770's

The X00's are good but the dynamic of the DT1770 sound a little better with Metal
Gaming is amazing with the DT1770's

Dt1770 is a strong contender for my next cans. Glad to hear you are enjoying them. How is the bass of the dt1770 compared to thx00?

Might as well get a cheap DT770 for gaming, shouldn't be able to get better than those..

I haven't heard the DT770s myself, but it is said they are on similar level regarding bass and treble with X00s. However mids are said to be better and more forward on the X00s.
