There is "measures well" and there's "measures like reference grade"

Have to remember back when the first O2 came out there were very few low impedance amps out there. People were trying to amp AKG K701s with 50 ohm OTL tube amps.
You'll never hear me say anything bad about the O2. It changed the headphone amp market for the better. But there are certainly more neutral solid state amps out there.

Would you consider the O2 neutral and linear? I am asking out of curiosity and I certainly do not think it is the end all be call of neutral SS amps. I am just curious as to whether or not others feel it is neutral as I found it very neutral, to the point of sterile, personally.

You don't, it goes on like the other Beyerdynamic headband but looks a lot cleaner.

Also it will be a tight fit so it might wrinkle the original headband. Hence I only put it on my D2000 which has been worn out.

Ah, gotcha. Thx!

I think it's a touch bright. mostly because it has a touch of bass rolloff. I think it also has some noise issues that cause people to need to turn it up a smidge more for resolution. In my experience noisy SS amps sound brighter and more brittle.

You guys using hifiman pads, I assume they are the Pleather pads. How do they attach? Do they sell angled pads?

The hifiman are a combination of perforated pleather and velour. Slightly angled but not as much as the stock THX00. Someone linked a Brainwavz version of the Hifiman pads, which may be a better choice because it won't have the hifiman plastic clip glued in.

That was an excellent write up deafanddumb.

I had been on the fence about these or the TH900 and it was nice to see a direct comparison like that... think I will be holding on to the TH900's though after what I have read!

How does it attach?

It attaches by wrapping over the original headband with some sort of velcro at the ends of the cover instead of buttons like the other headband.

Cheers....but I wouldn't pick one over the other...depends what music you listen to most and whether you want to spend more?
