interesting I don't know if I should sell my red ones or modding them...
If you thought that then best sell them. Once you grow older re buy them.

Try modding doesn't take too much time cup change is 4 screws. Ear pads easy to change.

Just thought to add... I am using my TH900Mk2 currently in full stock form (with the exception of cable).
And I feel no need to modify anything further. The sound is great, clear, and punchy.
Completely happy with them in stock form, and I am enjoying their original tuning and signature.

People love their mods, I was wondering if component changes would be a better use of time and money. Seems a few people think so. If I recall correctly, there was a rumor years ago that the Emu-teaks use the same driver. I can't find anything definitive on that. The Emus were selling for close to a grand at the time I believe, with fostex 600 types going for 300-450 on massdrop, and mk1 900's a bit lower than todays mk2 cost - it seemed a bit more believable. Anybody know for sure if the emus use the same driver?

TH900mk2 and TH900 use a 1.5 Tesla driver.
Ému Teak uses a 1 Tesla driver from the same family as TH610, TR-X00 etc.
This is based on multiple forum posts/discussions on some forums that I read through when I had a similar question. If you google you may be able to find specific proof.

Here are my pad comparisons, using TH-610 pads (which I use) as reference:
Dekoni hybrid - bass is not as perfect, doesn't hit as hard and as deep.
Dekoni Fenestrated - better than hybrid, but still not as good as 610
Dekoni TH900 Sheepskin - very similar to 610, better than 900 originals. Bass rumble is slightly worse than 610. Other than bass, possibly sounds better.
HD9999 thick pads - bass is as great as 610, sounds a bit darker and less clarity in the mids
TH900 original pads - bass rumble isn't good, doesn't sound as coherent as 610, slightly airier presentation with more recessed mids
Where'd you get the HD9999 pads from? I'm interested in testing them out with a darker sound (have the 610 pads on them rn).
