Fostex TH900 MkII

I've never thought they were harsh up high, just very transparent. I'm middle aged though and I might not be as sensitive to the highs as I once was. A warmer sounding tube amp might soften the highs but the main reason for me is the mids. I think a V or U shaped headphone or speaker for that matter, can benefit from midrange bloom in most tube amps. With these cans, you probably would want a transformer coupled or hybrid, unless you have the money for a higher end OTL like the Zana Deux.

Interesting. I don't typically listen for long enough periods to fatigue anyway - I usually listen all day, but take them off and on again throughout for various things. I'm about 34, so I think I might be getting close to desensitizing as well.

Thanks for the suggestion. I was always really smitten by the Woo WA7 and the tube PSU. I might end up going that route.

Good luck with whatever you go with.

Thanks!

Any verdict on the pads? I'll need to swap them out as I just purchased that emerald green TH900MK2 I was speaking about earlier.

I want to get acquainted with them before I start any heavy modding, but prefer real leather. I gather the Dekoni TH-900 lambskin pads keep the original signature as much as possible.

Any thoughts?

Well, you're not wrong there. I've got a handful of hobbies that I go balls to the wall with. You should see my shoe collection...

Couldn't help noticing your signature though - pot calling the kettle black, anyone? :p (I joke)
I buy but not think much.

How bad is the isolation and peakage with the default pads ?

Is it gonna bother someone sitting 0.3 meters away from me ? (right passenger while driving the car), the car nosie while moving is about 72dB and I will be listening up to 98dB

How loud is the train ?
and is there a solution to minimize the leakage with pads or mods ?

Not loud but people are noisier on a train than in a office. I play it loud in trains no issues and I use an amp.

Denon 9200 has more isolation. Beyer 1770 the closed one , has even more isolation.
