Good analogy, I agree. Plus I take care of my things, so I haven't had an issue with the chrome yet.

Since I haven't taken the blue plastic wrap off yet, I am thinking the moment I do, the chrome will definitely get scratched off as part of Murphy's Law.

There's someone on the FS forums selling one BNIB for $2500 - http://www.head-fi.org/t/627504/april-music-eximus-dp1-factory-sealed-free-world-wide-shipping

I would personally go with the V200+V800 between the two. I liked the DP1, but the amp section is very limited. It didn't sound very good with any high impedance or low sensitivity phones I tried with it (LCD-3, HD800, T1). You can tell that the DP1 was designed around its DAC section. The amp section was secondary and it is clearly lacking with some headphones.

That's probably a fair statement.  I have not tested my DP1 with any higher impedance HP's, but I would doubt that it would handle them too well.  On the other hand, I am only running my TH900's through it and they sound amazing with the DP1.  My strategy was to get the DP1 and use to amp section until I can afford a serious amp to pair with it.  So in the long run I end up with a very nice DAC for my future high-end rig.  I thought about the V200+V800 for a long time, but I fell in love with the DP1's sound so that was the end of that.

I just enjoy the plug without its cheap looking transportation protection more... if it does scratch -- so what? I prefer to call that personalisation
Why should I not enjoy the full product I bought for my personal use? What should I preserve that for? Resale-value? Taking good care is enough IMO.

If you live in Australia I can help you with finding a DP1.

Thank you), not in Australia.
I'm the same, not planning to use DP1 with additional headphones (hope so will be enough for me for classical music). Thinking also to drive DP1 or V800 from tablet, does it good idea?
Do you know for TH900: DP1 and V200+V800  are at same level?

Sorry i have not compared them directly. I listen to a lot of classical and i feel that the TH900 and the DP1 have fantastic synergy. If you can test one i highly recommend it.

kabukix: I'm not sure how the TH900 pairs with the DACmini, but if the TH600 pairing is any indication, I would say it'll definitely be good (for that price). Easily one of the best (the 600's, havent't heard of the 900's) with the DACmini for me.

Anyone else have twisted cable sleeving on their Th900 (either left or right side). Myright side is twisted, but the left is perfect.

I'm trying to figure out if it was like this, or was caused by the way I wrap my cable up.

Looks like just you? Had mine since January and they're still perfect

How are you coiling them?.

I start at the breakout and coil towards the connector. It's not getting worse, so I will try to ignore it.
