Fostex TH900 Impressions & Discussion Thread

I (finaly) received my Fostex TH900 today and I got with it the following Headphone stand.
--> I guess It is not the cheap-wire version that people mention ? isn' it ?
Also, I can confirm that the RWAK100 DAP can drive the TH900 correctly without any additional AMP ( IMO).
So... burn-in process already started ...
And later.... I will have it rewired balanced XLR ( with Coper OCC Cryonised cable) to go with my soon-to-arrive RedWine Audio Bellina HPA Pro Balanced + SE output DAC/Amp. Do you think is will improve sound signature ?

How did you get that headphone stand? Perhaps Fostex decided to heed customers' complaints regarding the wobbly stand and made a new stand that comes with all the TH900 from now on? I don't think I'm going to call Fostex and ask them to replace my current stand with the new one (as I already have a decent stand that looks much better), but I think many unhappy folks in this thread will.
As for recabling the TH900 balanced, I can't say for sure as I've never tried it, but my guess is that it won't make a lot of improvement. I've heard somewhere in Head-Fi that the balanced XLR version of AH-D7000 (TH900's predecessor) didn't make much improvement. Also, it's common knowledge that high-sensitivity headphones like the TH900 don't benefit from balanced recabling as much as low-sensitvity orthodynamic headphones do.

Fostex did use that stand for their headphones in some events before. Looks like I was correct in holding off for the TH900. I was hoping that they would do something with the swivel defect, but this is a good thing as well. The old stand looked very flimsy, even the D7100's stand is more stable.
Now the saving continues.

This stand looks much better than the wire one and worthy of the headphones in my opinion.

Anyone try them with a Dragonfly yet? I mean if they are not that "difficult" to drive (read: not HD800s) I would think you could potentially get a decent result with the Dragonfly.
Mine are inbound so had to ask because the suspense is killing me!!

bmichels, around what serial number is your Fostex TH-900? For instance, mine is ~0027x and came with the older wire stand.
Chudalicious, probably depends how picky you are. I tried my HRT HeadStreamer which is probably in a similar range where the balance of the TH-900 seemed wrong compared to my preferred DACport (1 ohm). I didn't hear anything offensive when listening though to the TH-900 directly through my iPod Classic. I haven't heard the Dragonfly though.
edit: Something is definitely wrong with the Headstreamer. Some parts of treble seem to be missing, or maybe it's rolled off at the very top. Nothing to do with the Dragonfly though.

Wowza the Dynahi/Dynalo takes these cans to another level. Definitely the best amp I've tried with them.

Sorry, but I looked carefully and found NO serial N°. Can you tell me where is it supposed to be printed.

Shah,
Better than the B22? How is the power swing on the Dynahi? That's a beast of an amp for sensitive headphones..
