There ok I guess for edm, nothing else though, hd650 dominates on my system for everything else

They are only "ok" for edm? That scares me a little bit since I'm considering to buy them for that purpose.

Btw how does TH900 handle fast paced music such as Trance and Drum&Base? I've read TH600 doesnt handle that too well.

well i think that's a ridiculous statement and that's not because i don't listen to edm. i've heard the hd650 btw and thought it was fairly ordinary tbh. it didn't have the th900's clarity, dynamics and impact but to each his own as they say.

These were made for EDM IMO. Sound is a personal preference & personally I think HD 650 are overrated

My listening perception is that the TH900 excels at percussion: drums, blocks, bongos, etc. with lots of amazing snap, precision, and accurate characterization of the texture of each type of such instruments.
In fact, just last week, I commented to myself that the TH900 has an amazingly exciting and dramatic ability to hit hard (but not in a way that is pushy or overwhelming at all).
I actually meant to post this here but I never got around to it and your question reminded me to do so here.

With a proper source both should handle fast paced music without a problem.

What are considered prober source? The TH900 are pretty expensive for me so that leaves little room for amp/dac. If I go with TH600 however I have more to spend on amp/dac. I listen to EDM if that is important to know when finding amp/dac's.

What sources did you consider? The IFI Micro iDSD for example should be OK. Basically, anything with a medium DAC and amp should be fine

That's fine you think that, doesn't worry me in the slightest, I just saying what I think... Yes the TH900 is a unique amazing headphone no question, however it's not the holy grail of headphones as many would lead you to believe in this thread.  Personally my system and what I listen to the HD650 offers more, which I'm allowed to say so

and i'm not claiming that it is. there are lots of fine headphones on the market. just thought your post was extreme tbh and said so as i'm allowed to do. as far as the hd650 goes, well i found it meh but if you dig it then good for you.
