I love Rage for Order and obviously Mindcrime, but that they're full of hunger on The Warning. You're lucky to have seen them during that era. I think they were touring with Dio during that album, if I remember correctly.
Yeah , seen Dio 4 times.

Lucky bas%6ard. That's the one concert regret I have - not seeing Dio in his prime.
My want was Randy and Ozzy. I bought tickets to see them but Randy died 3 hours from Miami , do the show was cancelled.

The TH900 can sound great from a good dap with 300MW or 700MW , but you will not vet the TH900s FULL potential from any dap pushing MW. Here I have been testing a few over $1,000 to 3,500 USD daps Vs those daps and cheaper with a 3 to5 Watt amp attached to it. The extra power gives much more dynamics , more depth , more separation , more space from one instrument to the other.
I just got the monoprice monolith portable. How do you think that would push these cans? 700 mW seems like a lot with the impedance and sensitivity, but then again I can see why you’d want massive headroom dealing with all of the bass

That's especially sucky. I also never saw Ozzy in his prime, but I did meet him for BBQ in Memphis a few years back. Very nice in person.

Im using a 5 watt amp not even a 700 MW , thats less than 1 watt. 700 mw pushes tge th900 well but it wont give you 100% of the sound that you can get.

Jake E. Lee and I'm guessing Brad Gillis era. I actually prefer Jake to Randy. Ultimate Sin is the ultimate gem.

Brad twice , the rest Jake. I went to Rock in Rio three times , the first in 85 Ozzy and Jake played there. I was eating in a restaurant in Rio De Janero airport and ozzy was at one table , scorpions and white snake at another , Iron Maiden and ACDC too.

Well that definitely trumps my meeting Ozzy over BBQ story (tho I did get a photo as a souvenir). I've watched that gig a lot on YouTube. Maiden were fierce, especially after Bruce slammed his face with the mic. And probably one of the last shows for John Sykes, too. Iconic.

All cool and no competing , just sharing , but I didnt speak to any of them. I just sat watched and ate. They were not all at one table. They mostly were all there eating. I only asked once for an autograph , but it was from Michael Jordan , he looked at me head to toe and walked away without signing.

Are the stock pads on TH900Mk2 all right? Went on a reviews reading-spree and saw a surprising number of mentions of people not liking them...

Also, and sorry that I may be repeating the question - are pure off-the-shelf-stock TH900Mk2 good?

Or is something really “needed” to get them going and get that sound that people mention (eg EQ, pads, mods...).
